God Bless,
Joe

Because we're DUMB!! And we're followers. That is why God referred to us as sheep. It was not a compliment. I don't know of any specific verses in the NT that talk about us as sheep, but that's basically why!

a wolf is a non-believer, too. some verses where we are called sheep and/or Jesus is called our shepherd (ergo we are sheep).

Mt 9:36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.

Mt 10:16 "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Mt 18:13 And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray.

Mt 25:32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.

Mt 26:31 Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: 'I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'

Joh 10:14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.
Joh 10:15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

Joh 10:26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.
Joh 10:27My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

Heb 13:20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

1Pe 2:25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Sheep are used as an image because they were well known in the area. Didn't raise a whole lot of buffalo. :D It is not because we are dumb. you have to look at every verse referencing sheep in its own context. Usually it has to do with the fact that sheep have a caretake, a shepherd to watch over and care for the flock. That is God's position in relationship to us (check out Luke 15).

We are called to judge ourselves. This little test is simply a way to take a look at ourselves and see where our hearts are. It is in no way to be taken as a final determination of "what" we are. This is simply so we can examine yourselves. Remember, be honest to yourself! Have fun!
