My answer is no; and I don't think hoarding behavior is appropriate for Christians. The Lord taught us not to be anxious about our basic needs because God knows them and is faithful to supply them. Jesus taught us to pray for our daily bread, not our bread for a month.
God wants our trust to be in Him, not in our goods. He is our Resource at all times; and not trusting Him not only hurts and angers Him but also prevents us from seeing Him act on our behalf as He would if we did trust and obey, which experiences bolster and increase our confidence in Him for the future.
When the people of Israel tried to store up manna, instead of taking their daily portion for their needs, it bred worms and stank. God was trying to teach them to rely on Him, to trust Him and take Him at His word, and their hoarding demonstrated their unbelief (and greediness besides).
In addition, we're not supposed to be jealous for our lives in this world. We're sojourners here; citizens of the eternal kingdom to which we are supposed to be looking forward. When we start thinking of ourselves as citizens of this world, rather than as sojourners in it, our heart attitude and priorities need a readjustment.
Jesus said that where our treasure is, our hearts will be also, and told us not to lay up treasures on earth but rather in heaven.
A Christian who is afraid of death and who would rather prolong his days on the earth as much as possible, rather than wanting to be away from the body and at home with the Lord, is doing something wrong in his Christian walk and needs to do some self-examination to find out why his actions and attitude aren't the same as those of Christ and His apostles.
