  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have to admit to 'stocking up' on a few things as I think there will be shortages for awhile. As I have a sinus condition I am hoarding Kleenex, as well as my favorite coffee, peanut butter, and bread.

I guess I am a bit on certain items. Just incase this decides to make a second round. I still cannot find rubbing alcohol, sanitizer etc. the aisles in my area are still pretty empty.

We aren't hoarding but being in a semi rural area and having been brought up to make sure there is always a stocked freezer and stocked cupboard, we actually haven't needed to worry about changing our buying habits at all. We had sufficient supplies prior to this virus showing up and have just replenished whatever we would have normally replenished. Except for flour which we have not been able to get the last few weeks. No problem, I still have the usual 50 lbs. on hand. Toilet paper happened to be on sale in early January so my wife had purchased a large quantity before we ever thought about the possibility there would be any shortages.

I think shortages will be around for quite awhile. With meat plants closing right and left we may all become vegetarians soon as well.

Never. I will find a source of meat somewhere. Are robins edible? No bats please.

I tend to stock up on things when I see a good sale. I had bought three 12-packs of toilet paper and probably 8 boxes of tissues last fall when a local store was going out of business. When the current shortage developed I dropped one of the 12-packs of toilet paper and four boxes of tissues (along with other stuff) with the local food bank. Ii don't think that qualifies me as a hoarder.

I don’t go crazy or anything. We are in a rural area as well. If I need one I’ll pick up two. Mostly because I’m afraid we will go back into lockdown again after it has been lifted.

The supermarkets near me have been very well stocked for a good couple of weeks now. So I'm still only getting what I need, as and when I need it.

It seems to have all calmed down a bit.

Mine too but some items are getting skimpy. Interestingly the white bread shelf has fewer varieties but my wwbread has gotten much more shelf space. Of course that could change so while it's plentiful I'm freezing a bunch. Coffee varieties have also shrunk but happily mine is still available, but once again that could change too.

Yeah I have heard reports of that too so today I plan to buy a lot of meats like canned and stuff to freeze.

To me it's more like filling your Ark with supplies for a coming flood rather than the negative stereotype of hoarding.

I havent found one bottle of vitamin C since this started. I am pregnant, so at least have my prenatals and nasty orange juice. Lol.

I admit I'm stocking on craft items though for my daughter. Been keeping her busy.

Prices are pretty stable for now, but if they start inching up we will know there are going to be some serious shortages. Also, we are eating last years plentiful harvest, but we don't know what this year will bring. The Fed has got to support the agricultural sector like never before.

Sunday roast soon to be $200
Might be a good time to stock up on sunscreen while everyone is inside.

I stopped buy beef roasts for that reason, and because there's a lot of waste. I buy lean steaks and cut them into 4-5 oz. servings, have maybe one per week.

Veggies will be in greater demand than pork from Chinese owned packaging plants unless the peasantry is allowed to labour once again.. Time to convert corn syrup farmers to high protein bean farming.

We couldn't hoard if we wanted to, since the supermarkets are getting worse around here rather than better.
Look on the bright side as a new world dawns. No more shopping in person or wasting valuable real estate for parking lots as everything is ordered and delivered online. Why Amazon may even take over the supply chains and food industry. You can watch Netflix at home while waiting two hours past your appt time to chat to your doctor online. No more pollution or wasting gas to hit the fast food joint when it can be delivered for more than the meal costs. Now if we could only get them to wear roller skates. And all paid for through various tracking devices.

Trying not to hoard, but my roommates and I are trying to stock up on certain things. Rice, some frozen foods, etc. The stores in our area are starting to get back to normal-ish, so it’s becoming less of a worry. We got lucky; we happened to buy toilet paper and paper towels before all the insanity started.
