Yeah, I had to walk away from that thread too. There's definitely something odd going on there, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.

A spirit of strife and spiritual oppression was working, and still is attempting to last I checked. I was having a chat with a sister who's been out for a little while, and asked her if she had any discernment on the matter. After checking the thread as well as others, the first thing out of her mouth was that the whole site seemed to be under some sort of attack by a spirit of strife, and that it was confusing. I even got caught up in it, and I usually don't.

I understand what you’re saying. And to someone who views the world through the lens of love it makes perfect sense. But not everyone has this lens. Go stand on a street corner with a sign quoting John 3:16 (“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”). See how many people yell at you, spit at you, or throw things at you. Not everyone responds to love with love. Trust me; I have the scars to prove it.

So, true. I had many scars, as well, but thank the Lord, he has healed me time and time again. I can't guarantee they are all healed, but I know his grace is sufficient to meet my every need, and that his power is perfected in my weakness, for when I am weak, then am I strong in his power at work within me to keep me going, despite the opposition.

Here are some scriptures that are relevant to the subject:

The phenomenon of seeing good as evil is mentioned in the following scriptures:

Jesus warned his followers that their good deeds would be perceived as evil and they would be persecuted because of it:

Also, note that the Apostle Paul, once called Saul, considered Christians criminals and blasphemers and persecuted them before he himself was converted.

Thank you for those scriptures. They were right on point. I appreciate you sharing.

Wow, Sister. Timely word. Yesterday was probably my toughest day at this website so far. Was working two threads simultaneously where every position I took was being attacked, and relentlessly. And it is a spirit of Hate, though those being used like that are probably not willing to recognize it as such...

But it is the truth that they hated in Jesus, and it is the truth they hate in us, whether they are people in the world or people being used by the Devil as believers. But it is a sure sign that you are following Christ when you are simply speaking the truth in love and yet constantly being vilified. To not be hated is, as you say, probably a real sure sign you're not doing much for the kingdom just yet.

Thank you again for your ministry, Christ's Servant. I don't read every single one, but when I'm led to they are usually dead on.

God Bless you in the love of the Lord Jesus Christ,
Your friend as always,
HiH

All glory to God! Thank you so much for sharing all this. So true about people hating Jesus and hating us because we tell the truth. Satan hates the truth, and he will do everything within his power to try to convince everyone that truth is lies and lies are truth.

Forgot to mention that I also kinda lost it last night, and got caught up in the strife in one of those two threads. But the Spirit saw that coming long before it even happened. I woke up with a song in my mind that morning that I never think of (not really a particular fan of it), and now I'm starting to understand the interpretation He was trying to tell me.

Everyone might think me silly for interpreting secular songs into spiritual situations all the time, but this is just part of my gift of also being able to interpret visions and dreams. When He gives me something, I keep searching until I understand why. Anyway, the words "Ride like the wind" were a reference to following the Holy Spirit's lead, and "border of Mexico" was a reference to Heaven, the destination I'm trying to reach. The verses speak of being a transgressor, even of God Himself, given the line "no where in sight when the church bells rang." The interpretation: He knew I would mess up by "speaking my mind" instead of remaining in meekness, and was trying to tell me I would need to return to not getting into strife and just ride like the wind in the Spirit.

Not sure what this does for anyone. Just sharing my heart as things come to me, with friends. Btw, the words "no time to sleep" are very applicable to me. I spend so much time in ministry that I often rarely if ever get enough sleep.

Ride Like The Wind
Christopher Cross
It is the night
My body's weak
I'm on the run
No time to sleep
I've got to ride
Ride like the wind
To be free again

And I've got such a long way to go (such a long way to go)
To make it to the border of Mexico
So I'll ride like the wind
Ride like the wind

I was born the son of a lawless man
Always spoke my mind with a gun in my hand
Lived nine lives
Gunned down ten
Gonna ride like the wind

And I've got such a long way to go (such a long way to go)
To make it to the border of Mexico
So I'll ride like the wind
Ride like the wind

Gonna ride like the wind

Accused and tried and told to hang
I was nowhere in sight when the church bells rang
Never was the kind to do as I was told
Gonna ride like the wind before I get old

It is the night
My body's weak
I'm on the run
No time to sleep
I've got to ride
Ride like the wind
To be free again

And I've got such a long way to go (such a long way to go)
To make it to the border of Mexico
So I'll ride like the wind
Ride like the wind

And I've got a long way to go (such a long way to go)
To make it to the border of Mexico
So I'll ride like the wind
Ride like the wind
Gonna ride like the wind

Ride!
Gonna ride like the wind
Ride!

I've been there before, where the Holy Spirit warned me of something in advance, but I didn't understand it until after I had blown it. And, then I saw it clearly. I've lost it before, too, more in person than on here, though, as on here I can more easily choose my words carefully, whereas in person I have, at times, reacted, not in a real bad way, but not in the best way, when faced with strong opposition and the lies of the enemy. I hate lies! But, God is good, and he continues to mature me and to give me his grace in conversations so that I don't lose it, so I am thankful for his watch and care over me.

Yes...some people behave badly...
But is it always because they hate?
Sometimes they're just afraid...or worried...or sick...or hurt...or lonely...

While it is true that people do bad things for many reasons, the point of the OP, which is the point of this passage of scripture in John 15, is that, as Jesus was hated, so will we be hated if we are truly his disciples. Jesus said it, so it is true. Not only did he say it, but his disciples all through the ages have experienced this hatred, persecution and martyrdom for the sake of the name of Jesus, and for the sake of his gospel.

If we are truly following our Lord Jesus in obedience, and we are sharing with others the true gospel of salvation, not the watered-down version which appeals to the flesh of humans, we will be hated by the world, and by the worldly church, too, and many of us will be kicked to the curb and ousted from the institutional church because we "don't fit." But, that is ok, because I believe the institutional church is Babylon and that God is calling his true church to come out of her anyway.

Yes, but WHY was Jesus "hated"?
Because he was good?
I don't think so.
I think many people were afraid of Him.
They were afraid.
They lived in terrible, uncertain times.
Jesus was a threat to the little stability that they had...
I think it was fear, not hatred, that made them savage.

Do you not believe the Bible? God's Word says he was hated, despised and rejected of men, and that men hid their faces from him. They were jealous of him. They opposed him at every turn, not everyone did, but the religious leaders in the temple did, for sure, and the majority of the Jewish people refused to believe in him as their Messiah, and most still don't. They hated him because he was absolute good, yes! They hated him so much that they plotted his death, falsely accused him, brought him to trial on trumped up charges, beat him beyond recognition, let a robber go free while they shouted "Crucify Him!" and then they had him hung on a cross to die. If that is not hate, I don't know what is. I believe the Bible, and I believe Jesus. Do you?

It can be said that they "hated."
Sure.
You can just stop there and believe this terrible thing about people, that they "just hate."
But WHY do they hate?
Are some people just fundamentally bad?
I don't think so.
There are reasons for everything.
It is not reasonable to say hate springs from love.
I try to be reasonable.
