Yeah sucks that we're born into probably the most coddled and trashy generation man has yet seen.

In the past people couldn't get away with being as immature as our generation is. Beginning with the baby boomers it continued to get worse and worse. At least they had parents and grandparents who remembered when life was harder. Now we're getting multiple generations within the family who have had it easy. Life was brutal and rough, being a special snowflake wasn't really feasible.

I'd rather live through two conventional world wars and the Great Depression knowing that everything would turn out right in the end.

Can't say the same about my day. The world looks like it's on the verge of ecological, economical, social, and political collapse and our generation will not be able to handle it as well as my Great Grandparents did back in their day.

Hard to say. Would be interesting if a nuclear holocaust sent us back to the dark ages.

I think humans are pretty flexible. Even the whiny sjws on tumblr would probably turn rock hard real quick if they had no choice.

Srsly though, Rene Girard is a good read on the subject. It seems as if human societies have always had this problem/solution involving sacrificing humanity. He even ties it into his view of the atonement, with a christus victor slant, not that I agree with everything he says.
