best guess, 40 - 50% gray - the rest very dark brown. I stopped coloring it a couple of years ago and my kids yelled at me, so this past spring I started coloring again.

BTW Jan - I've had the same trouble, I have no natural red in my hair and many brown dyes do and it just doesn't look right. Now I choose the darkest ash blonde when coloring - it blends the gray in (looks like highlights) and no hint of red.

My hair is a dark blonde and I have several gray hairs trying to come through. I dyed it a few times but then I came across a verse I had never seen before. Proverbs 16:31 says "Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life". I don't give it much thought anymore.

I have "highlights" of "platinimum blond" (translation: grey) in my light brown hair. If I get my hair colored with highlights by the hair dresser they do blend in a bit but in the last year this isn't working fully.

Geneticially thought really looking grey for me is not likely to be a big issue for another 10 years (from both sides of my family).
