God doesn't make mistakes!
Yeppers, the saying is true..."You can take the girl out the country but you can't take the country out of the girl"saelestis said:You know, you've got a really good point. the whole Yankee/Rebel thing is so east coast-centric, it doesn't address anyone else. Anyone see Days of thunder? Here's some quotes:
Tim Daland: If you're from California, you're not a Yankee. You're not really anything.
Harry Hogge: You said it.
I don't remember what state the movie was supposed to be in, but it sure wasn't Massachusetts.
The thing is, I knew an Air Force couple (I will refrain from saying what state I met them in) who ran into that [attitude] in real life and suffered for it.
And (in that same state) I could not find work, my dad worked 45-hours a week on John Deere tractors for minimum wage. And so, we sent my mom and the kids ahead in the car, my dad and I left in a grocery truck with all our stuff, and in that drafty truck I learned what "bronchitis" means. We had to dump the American dream and go home...back up north. I nearly committed suicide down there as well. A little attitude goes a long way, eh?
So, then, Tumbleweed, I think you are simply blessed. I wish I grew up out west, the big city is convenient and impressive but also dirty, polluted and somewhat harsh. I wish places like Arizona and Montana were scenes of my memories and not just wallpapers I've downloaded.
