Faith is belief in things unseen or not clearly understood. Calvinism is a mystery but I accept the apparent contradictions, including believing that Christ died for all, and that apostasy is possible in extreme cases. (Like a Calvinist-Lutheran hybrid.)

I went from Calvinism to Arminianism to agnosticism to Arminianism to (after a brief look into EO/RCC) Calvinism.

Yeah, I thought I was Arminian until I read Romans 8:29-30. But instead of the 'stuffed-up' feeling, I felt quite humbled at the reality at play.

I studied it for years and years myself and like you pivoted back and forth several times. Its hard to accept that some are doomed and not the "Elect" but then again none of us truly has any reason to deserve salvation so we should be thankful for our faith. But I'm sure like you when I was younger I kept asking myself how this could be fair and that is what took me a long time to accept. All the rest of God's absolute sovereignty came rather easy for me, but accepting some are lost was difficult for me personally to overcome. But in the end, who wants to think every day that your salvation depends on you like some form of Karma where the day you die if your debit account exceeds your credit account of good vs. evil you get into heaven, but if you die on a bad day you could wind up in Hell for eternity because you just did something bad for a day. I know I don't want to depend on me for that, and I think the doctrine of eternal security is best part of being a Calvinist, knowing God is in total control. But I also by a careful study of Scripture came to realize the entire "TULIP" of Calvinism was most consistent with my interpretation (plus a lot of theologians) of the Bible.

I have had several experiences involving interaction with elements of my Christian faith. I will stand absolutely firm in that they happened and nobody can convince me otherwise. Now, either they did really happen or I am stone cold bonkers. So far I have been able to stay out of any mental facilities so I am saying that we still have a personal one on one relationship with our Lord through the Holy Spirit and it is up to Him to determine if we need it as true, physical interaction or if simple spirit to mind interaction is sufficient. Based on what I have read that makes me a Continuationist. I KNOW that the Holy Spirit has continued interacting with us to this day.

All I can ask for is proof of any gifts, mentioned in the New Testament not existing today.
When did they disappear?
Where in God's Word does it tell us they are gone?
And please the that which is perfect idea is contrary to any logical study.
As well Christ fulfilled the gifts is illogical if you read Ephesians.

The completed Canon could not have replaced the gifts.
Paul was expecting Christ return in his time, and you can not meet a canon face to face.
Prophet's were a gift from Christ along with the other gifts of the ministry.
He gave these gifts when he ascended to Heaven.

Please show me any other dispensation, that happened after Christ.
The Apostles beyond the 12 continued planting Churches.
The term Apostle simply means the sent one.
We have missionaries today sent out.
Charismatic doctrine did not come from the mysticism movement.
God does not change, nor has his Word.
In order to think God changed his mind and revoked the gifts you have to believe in open Theism.
I do not need debate so prove the gifts have gone, because they are still in operation world wide.

I understand I have not posted verses, I would hope those who have a opinion would know what I am referencing, since this seems to never end.

1 Corinthians 14: 38. But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. 39. Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. 40. Let all things be done decently and in order.

I've been trying to decide on this. Cessationists believe that "that which is perfect is come" refers to the completion of the canon, but I'm more convinced that it refers to the second coming of Jesus.

Besides, if the completion of the canon was at the death of the last apostle, that would mean that a share of the Pauline epistles were to be only for a few decades and that's it...does that sound odd to anyone? I don't know...Not all parts of the Bible were for all time, but it was never for that short of a length of time, was it?

I think gifts are given by the Holy Spirit based on need. Today in the USA, there are not as many languages spoken here on a major level as in Acts 2. There are enough people trained various languages. The Bible has been translated in many languages. Basically, the glossolalia in pentecostal and charismatic churches today are not true languages and are out of order. God is not the God of confusion.

I personally Believe , that no where in the New Testament can you find another dispensation that does away with the gifts.
Paul gives great attention to love, and teaches order in the Church.
But He is clear of the gifts ceasing when we meet Christ.
We are living in the Church age, there can be no other dispensation until Christ returns.
It is a generational twisting the Bible to fit the opinions of men.

More and more I see additions to God's Word, there are those who will tell you to take the mark of the beast, you will be saved in the end.
Not what my bible says, it says you will be cast into the Lake of fire with the beast.
It seems there is a push to change God's Word, and teaching that supports the change.
Lordship salvation is a movement that is catching on, it is false doctrine.

We do not see the gifts today as much due to a lack of faith.
