Are we to stand for this?

And just to add, I did not name any names. I asked for Tall and Sophia's opinion on the matter.

I also promoted healthy discussion and debate about our beliefs.

But if you shout around a Muslim message, under the name 'SDAmember' are you a Seventh-day Adventist honestly questioning the faith?

You can point your finger at me all you want, saying I can't take my faith being tested, whatever.

I said what I had to say, someone had to say it sooner or later. If we are distancing ourselves from the very principles that define us as 'Seventh-day Adventists' - then in my books we are no longer Adventist.

Jon
jon did not mean to finger point. you clarified what you ment. and it did not include what I thought you were talking about, I agree with you on the sabbath, state of the dead and the second coming , creation too. I do not see any room in the the bible postion for evloution, theistic evloution our an change over time, that should be off limits. there is a subfourm for that.

I would like people's opinion on this, particularly the moderator's - Sophia, Tall, etc.

If I were to adopt the guise 'IlovethePope" or something, barge into the Catholic forum, and join in their discussions, is there no way that it can be determined whether I was a Catholic or not?

Would it be allowed if I were to start questioning the Pope's authority, questioning Catholic tradition, bringing up Daniel and how their church is the little horn, saying their church is practically pagan, etc, all under the guise as a church going Catholic?

If I am not mistaken, the point of the Seventh-day Adventist forum is to have healthy, lively debates and discussions with fellow Adventists in the faith. Why is it that if we venture out of our forum, say, into GT, we get attacked about EGW, the Sabbath, the Law, the Sanctuary, and we come back to our own forum, and the same is happening here?

In my opinion, our forum is infested with so called 'Adventists' who seem to only be using the label to cause controversy, and to spread a blatantly non-Adventist message. How can it be tolerated when certain individuals state they are 'only here to show people the real 'gospel' of Jesus Christ alone?'

I for one am getting quite offended that this is going on to the extent it is.

Jon
Welcome to Christian Forums. This is a common complaint within the Denomination area of this board in particular. A couple of years ago it was a much better place to exchange ideas and explore one anothers faiths.
However, CF now has well established double standards.
It makes you wonder what CF really stands for.
Reporting is futile as everything is explained away.
But don't give up hope, pray for the salvation of those people causing your problems instead.

Reporting is not futile; all reports will be handled as fairly as possible. My responsibility as a staff member in the SDA forum is to look at all of the evidence when a problem comes to my attention and to set aside any personal biases. Yes, it is apparent that I have concerns about a few Adventist doctrines, but I won't let that affect my decisions to close threads, delete posts, give warnings, etc. We also usually have more than one mod in each congregational area so that no one person acts alone.

My suggestion is that anyone who thinks that other people's posts break the rules should report them. If you think that someone shouldn't hold an Adventist faith icon, report the posts that give evidence of this. I would caution you not to accuse them of not really being Adventist in the public threads. That serves no good purpose and only leads to more fighting.

Feel free to start fellowship threads. If you want a safe haven, go to the SDA subforums. Debating is not allowed there. If it happens, report it.

For those who want more fellowship, we have several sticky threads in the main SDA forum. Some of them are fellowship threads. One is for testimonies. Those with [open] tags are also open for fellowship to people who can't normally post in the Christians-only sections of CF.

Jon, I am afraid this is a correct assessment, as I have been in many political online forums which enforced "political viewpoints" as that was my main area of concern when I got online. I learned to sense the political leanings of individuals by the words and style they used, but I also learned that many sites had political agendas and used their rules on the site to enforce them. One particular site pretended to be neutral yet all the callers to its radio station seemed to adhere to its veiws, so I tested them to see if my suspicions were true. I called from different cellphones and said I was, lets say a "Republican" and I would be told that the lines were full, so I would call back and say I was a "Independant" and they would say to call back later, but if I said I was a "Democrat" they would let the call go through immeadiately live with the host and state my views, it never failed when they were pushing a position. There are many ways to push a agenda that are much more subtle and hidden that can affect the outcome of a discussion or muffle a opposing view, and I am afraid to say it has influenced the standards of religious debate and discussion in even religious online forums and made void our ideals that are based on freedom of speech and religion. Such is the nature of the "End Times"......

I have had my ups and downs in debating theology with folks. The one positive side of all of it has been it's forced me to dig deeply into why I beleive certain things. To be honest, some of the things we believe have come under righteous scrutiny and deserve to be better refined in our church. This is my opinion only but I feel I am qualified to express one as a loyal SDA.

As long as we are learning as we go and keep it civil I am all about good debate or intense discussions.

God Bless

This is one of the better run Christian websites with the nicest moderators (and I mean that, even though they do flag me every other day...) and with a real Christain spirit. The only thing I can say that is not up to par about is the Format for the Threads, it is terrible. If you want to see a user friendly format check out prayerfreeway.com, that format is excellent. The Visual Mode setting doesnt help much, I still cant see who is posting what, once its more than a page unless I click and thrash about.....Everything needs to be visible on each page or the next, none of this more replies below current depth...you already can refer back to the original post thats what the POST QUOTES button is for........

Happywiththelord, it's so good to see you here sista!! :)

I don't come by very often and it's not because I got scared away (although I did get really mad at a few posters at one point). I just don't have the time to post anymore unfortunately.

I do come by at least once a week to collect my "salary" and interest on my blessings...LOL, and I always check in here.

I must say, I am always happy to see posts by OntheDL, Cliff2, etc. OntheDL wasn't around when I was before, but I always enjoy his posts when I pop in.

I've learned through the years that some people don't want to debate...they want to fight. The bigger man just walks away from those types of "discussions". It takes air to fan a fire, you know what I mean?

It's good to see everybody!

Hey there sista! havent seen ya in a while. good to see you back. i dont come on much either. just on sabbath. to chat a little and mostly read.

Its true. most people come to fight about what they think is right and not actually discuss. People get offended and heated so fast! Makes me wonder where the Holy Spirit is. The Bible says that you will know them by there fruit.

Good to see ya! Hope to see you around more.
