So what about this verse which states Jesus is the propitiation for believers (our sins) and also for unbelievers (the whole world)

And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
I believe that John, a Jew writing to fellow Jews, was saying that Christ did not only die for Jews, but for Gentiles too. As John Gill wrote in his commentary on this verse: "that is, not for the Jews only, for John was a Jew, and so were those he wrote unto, but for the Gentiles also."

Not creative at all. John was a Jew. He was addressing Jews. Jews in those days regarded themselves as the only ones who were recipients of God's blessings, so in that context it makes sense for John to write as he did.

So John who wrote
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

Children of God equals a born again believer

Then when writing 1 John writes this.
My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

The, my little children is also unbelieving Jews. Sure right John is addressing believing and unbelieving Jews and is calling them little children.

Like i said you do get creative

Sorry, what do you mean? John wrote his letters to believers. He wrote:

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” (1Jo 3:1-2 NKJV)

The context shows that by "us" John means himself and his readers. He is not calling unbelieving Jews "children".

I was addressing your post that said John in verse 1 John 2:2 was writing to.

I believe that John, a Jew writing to fellow Jews, was saying that Christ did not only die for Jews, but for Gentiles too

John was not writing to fellow Jews, John was addressing the children of God. Stating that Jesus had died for their sins. Then John goes on to say and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

So John is saying Jesus died for the sin of the whole world believers, children of God (not for ours only) and unbelievers (but also for the whole world)

Very good. I agree and the song is a good one, as well. I began a similar thread recently on the concept of "Eternal Security". In John 14:21 Christ says "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."
