I am in the USA EST and as I post this it is 10:04 am.

All I meant was, that my day had come to an end , as far as posting. I was tired and needed rest.

I'll get back to you on the two books of life, and you are not stupid. Just lack the information needed to understand.

I believe that we are predestined based on God's foreknowledge. Jesus died for the sins of the world(1John 2:2), not just the "chosen". It is written, "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"(Romans 10:13), " not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.(2Peter 3:9)"

Jesus died for all and everyone has to choose this day whom they will serve.

I have heard about the 2 books, one being the book of the living and the other the Lamb's book of life.

    SSC:

I missed two verses - Revelation 13:8 and Psalms 139:16

Many are called, but few are chosen.

The chosen, were chosen from "before the foundation of the world ", to be holy and without blame IN Christ in love.

God is a God of two of everything.

Thus, we see the word "Another" in Revelation 20:12. The books were the books of works. This "another" book, was the other book of life.

The book of life has everyone's name in it , unless their names become blotted out. But not "all". Everyone "except" those mentioned in Revelation 17:8

The key words in this verse in Rev. 17:8 - are the words -- "from the foundation of the world ". That is "when" God put their names in the book of life.

Those whoes names are in the Lamb's book of life, are the chosen, from -- Key words again --- "before the foundation of the world ".

One book (the "another" book) - the names were written - "from the foundation of the world "

The other book (the Lamb's book of life - the book of life of the Lamb) - the names were written - "from before the foundation of the world "

Also - only those whoes names are in the Lamb's book of life can "enter into" through the gates , of the New Jerusalem. All others were put in there, but do not go in or out. Rev. 21:27

Well, to tell the truth , it really is that simple.

Christians know if they have Christ living in them. They don't just say it with their mouths. You shall know them by their fruit.

But --- One should be more concerned about staying faithful , then looking at others , or one's self, "just" to see if they can tell one person and one book from one another.

The future will reveal which book your name is written in. The real concern, is to keep your name written in the book of life , or the Lamb's book of life.

We who are Christians, are "led" by the Spirit of God - Remember my first post on this ? ?

    :help:
I AM SAVED. I know that. So are you saying that my name is in at least one of the Books of Life or both or what?

I guess what I am really asking is what is the difference between the books, other than the name of the book and whether or not the name was written in it before the foundation of the world or from the foundation of the world?

Yes, I believe I am dense today! :sorry:

Whenever my coffee is a little dense, I just add a little milk of the word to smooth it out with. :yum:

Your name is in either one or the other, or not in either. But because you beleive , and I believe you, I would say that your name is written in one of the two books. :)
O K - O K I know that was not very helpful, and I am kidding around a little here. Not to confuse you, but lighten you while I enlighten you. :D

Christians were chosen from "before the foundation of the world", and because of this , were put in the Lamb's book of life. Like Israel was a chosen people, we who are Christians are chosen sons of God. God put the spirit of his Son in your, which is Christ IN you.

Only those whoes names are written in the Lamb's book of life = Christians only ! Can enter into the New Jerusalem through the gates. That is because, we are on the outside, but can come in. The reason we are on the outside, is because that is where the New Heaven is. The New Jerusalem is the New Earth. Kingdom of Heaven, and Kingdom of God = 2.

Those who are saved , but not Christians , are not in the Lamb's book of life. They are "saved from the wrath of God" unto eternal life with God in the New Earth - New Jerusalem.

Everyone thinks that if they are saved, that makes them a Christian. That just is not true ! Most preachers teach - heaven or hell, and that is just not the truth either ! In fact it is a false teaching from the false teachers who work for the adversary. Some preachers repeat what they have been told, and are not false teachers. This is where things get real interesting, let me tell you !!

There is heaven, the New Heaven, and earth, the New Earth, and then there is the lake of fire, called the second death. Two are of God, and the other is for those whoes names are not written in the book of life, plus all of the devil spirits. :)

Yeah, that's me, just keeping it simple ;)

"Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved"

This is not an invitation to earn your own merit into Heaven with your own efforts through words and/or deeds; this is a statement of fact. And notice that it says "whoever WILL call"; those that call upon the name of the Lord are His Children anyway, so....

You say you can CHOOSE to follow God? How can an unrighteous person, which we all start as, choose God over their nature? Until God transforms your heart, you are a slave to your nature of bondage to sin. If you place a bowl of salad and a bowl of raw meat in front of a lion, which is she going to eat? -- the meat, of course.... why??? because it's her NATURE, just as unrighteousness, thus rejection of God, is the nature of one that has not been converted by God.

And who can perform an act of choice that is outside the will of God? If you choose to do something, then it is always within the will of God. Think about it, do you really think that God is going to allow something that is outside of His will to happen? That would have catastropic consequences on the world! Do you believe that God is going to have the world ended exactly according to His plan, or is He going to allow a man to make a choice, by himself, that could potentially destroy humankind? If He did, then God would not be Sovereign. Anything we say and anything we do, we have done so because God allowed it. But you may say that allowing is not the same thing as Him commanding absolutely everything that happens. Well, if He "allows" something to happen, and He knows it's going to happen, then isn't He exercising will, isn't He MAKING it happen? God is Sovereign, completely.

We have free will in that, as Christians, even though sin is not what God wants, we still "choose" sin. This does not mean we can increase sin to increase grace, or any of that nonsense, which Paul speaks on in Romans. There is a tremendous tension between the Sovereign will of God the choice of sin of Christians, in that although God works all things according to His will, we are not loosed from our responsibility to obey God's teachings. For a "good tree is known by its fruit."

My goodness, Hervey, you ARE in a good mood today!

Maybe it will rub off on me :p

Okay...I think I am getting it...my name is most likely in the "Lamb's Book of Life" right?

Now, if I am saved but I don't follow God's commandments and Him, then I will have eternal life, but I won't be in the same place as a Christian.
    Correct?

So...then I must ask this question, forgive me. I think I know the answer, but...

What exactly makes me a Christian, if it is not just being saved? What must happen or what must I do?

Now, Hervey, I like you, and if you are sick  of answering my questions...by all means, tell me to get lost, okay?

You seem to have an interesting outlook on these matters. You put a sort of "spin" on things that I have not encountered here or much of anywhere before. I have always seemed to have a sort of "discerning spirit" and I think you may be on to something!

    AAAhhh ----- NO

It does not work that way ! You are not a child of God because you call on the name of the lord. It says - if you call on the name of the lord, you will be saved !

Even King David knew , by way of prophesy, that his Lord would sit on the right hand of the Lord - Acts 2:34

He is at the right hand of God - Acts 2:33

Plus - The Word tells us not to be concerned with trying to figure out who is going to ascend up into heaven - Romans 10:6

Being saved does not make one a Christian.

God having chosen one from before the foundation of the world, and putting the spirit of his son in our hearts, the seed , which is the promise seed of Christ IN us - IS a true Christian , son of God. All others follow christianity. Unfortunitly, they claim to be Christian, just because they follow christianity. However, there truly is nothing wrong with calling one's self a Christian, but saying it is because you called on the name of the lord, is not right - correct !

Ummm, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by this, but scripture clearly states that those that call upon the Lord will be saved. And anyone that truly calls upon the Lord has been changed by God, because no person wishes to follow and call on God unless God has converted that person and placed that desire within them. It is by grace that we are saved; God changes us, we don't change Him.

My oven Pizza is almost ready :yum:

So I have to keep this short :)

You can do nothing to get into the Lamb's book of life. Thus you can do nothing to become a Christian. It is God's business who is to be called a son of God. I did not choose my father he chose to have me . The same with our heavenly Father. Seed - Christ IN you - the spirit of his son in our hearts crying - Abba - Father.

Whoever is in either of the two books can loose. Christians whoes names are in the Lamb's book of life can loose this type of salvation, which is the salvation of the body of Christ. Christ gave himself for the body , as well as for the whole world. There is eternal life in heaven as well as in the New Earth. So, if a Christian looses their salvation in the New Heaven, they still can have eternal life in the New Earth. But they loose certain rights that they had while their names were in the Lamb's book of life. Their names "can" be blotted out of the lamb's book of life, and still be in the other book of life. Thus eternal salvation is still going to happen. The greatest loss, are those whoes names are blotted out of the book of life, because they end up in the Lake of fire.

Remember ! God is no respector of persons. What one does to have their name taken out of the book of life, can also happen unto those whoes names are in the Lamb's book of life. They also can end up in the Lake of fire. God never said that Christians were exempt.

Remember how God judged Israel in the OT. They were not exempt from the wrath of God, nor were they exempt from the plagues of God, and God even blotted out some of their names from the book of life. They now are going to the lake of fire ! God is a just God and a righteous God, and in His righeous judgement, everyone will be judged rightly.

We who are Christians can ask for forgiveness and other Christians can help restore them back into fellowship with God. It is hard for me to concieve, that once one has tasted of the heavenly gift, that they would do anything so wrong that they would end up in the Lake of fire. But I know God is not in the business of favoritism. Anyone who thinks he is , is only fooling themselves.

Love and live a righetous life style.

I enjoy answering your question SSC. You are a joy to talk too, and with !

    Pizza time ! :yum:
