I must say that listening to the Bible on my mp3 player has been the best thing for me to spend more time in the Bible. I found the ESV Audio Bible on Faith Comes By Hearing, and it's so well done that I spend lots of time listening to it while busy doing other things. No it's not the same as a deep study but listening to it from Genesis 1:1 in order has really helped me see the continuity of the Bible. Not only that it's really a great piece of literature as far as story telling goes.

How much Bible is the appropriate amount to read? 2 chapters a day, 10, 50? Every waking moment? Anytime our eyes light upon text should it be the Bible?

There's plenty of time for us to read scripture and just about anything else we want to throughout the day. The problem is that most of us don't do any reading until we crawl into bed and then we're lucky to spend 15 minutes reading. In the meantime all the hours we spent watching tv and online could have been spent reading.

The problem isn't reading too much, that's never an issue, but rather the problem is not managing our time.
