All sin is willful or deliberate; our own sin brings God’s wrath upon us because we are created in his image and are accountable (Ro 14:12) to him. God created man and the angels perfect. This includes perfect free will and the capacity to sin. God also designed an insistent and valid testing program for everyone. For Adam & Eve, God made the fruit appear to be especially luscious (Gen 3:6) and they failed the test after God used Satan to tempt them. God also used Satan to test Jesus (Matt 4). Jesus had the same human nature as Adam and the same potential to sin so Satan’s temptations were very real. But Jesus was able to resist him while quoting scripture.

Like wise God tests us today (I Thess 2:4,2 Thess 2:4, Eph 5:10), this why He told us to study and understand (1 Cor 2:13, 2 Timothy 2:15, 2 Tim 3:16) the bible and test our understanding (Gal 6:4, I Thess 5: 21) so we will not be lead astray by false gospels that appear to be godly but also satisfy our emotions, desires, love and care for the world more than Him.

Jesus did not just promote peace and love (Mt 10:34). He came to educate us about our sinful nature (Ps 58:3, Is 64:6, Ecc 7:20, Gal 3:22, Eph 2:2-3, Rom 3:10, 1 John 5:17). He came with warnings about rising false prophets and gospels that will increasingly lead many (Matt 7:13) away from God (Matt 8:15 - 24, Matt 24:24, Eph 4:14, 2 Tim 4:3). Most importantly he came as the Lamb of God that would pay for the sins of those God chose to save (Rom 9:15, Rom 9:21. Gal 4:9, Eph 2:8, Eph 1:4-13).

So no, we are not responsible for what all of our ancestors have done. Only for what we have done and will continue to do. Sin is deliberate. The little white lie, the lustful thought, that moment of anger…In principle we were all in the loins of Adam, as in Adam all die. The proof is in the sin in our life. It is because of our own sin that we are in trouble with God. He is the perfect judge and the wages must be paid (Ro 6:23). It is because of this that Christ had to come and assume the punishment on behalf of His people.
