mandyangel,

lets look at what apostle Paul taught the church about Christ return and what to expect.

What is amazing is Paul says people will be saying "3When people are saying, “Everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman’s labor pains begin." 1 Thess. 5

so ok, most people will be going about their business like the day of Noah, and Paul reminds the church Christ will not return until a certain event occurs...so Paul must of been informed by the Holy Spirit this would happen....but it sure makes it difficult for us here 2000 yrs later to know exactly what he is teaching.

"For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction. 4He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God. "(2 Thess. 2)

this is how we come up with all the differing theologies of Christ return, some Christians believe this took place during the fall of the temple, others believe it has not happened yet...but does history report seeing this, read below....

9This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. 10He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. 11So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. 12Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth.(2 Thess. 2)

and did this happen:, 8Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming." (2 Thess. 2)

so if the man of lawlessness already happened, the scriptures teach Jesus destroyed him AT HIS COMING.(?)

Well looks as though this has not happened, or we missed the resurrection and we are all wondering around in hell....not.....or this was not a literal teaching, it is spiritual, see how crazy all this can get.

Then on top of all the above, some Christians take OT scripture add to this scripture, and we get all types of scenarios to what the "end times" will look like.

I chose just to live my life for God, in holiness and servitude, in this way He will not come as a thief in the night, but I will be ready. "4But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief." (1 Thess. 5)

One day, hopefully soon this will happen, praise God...

51But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! 52It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. 53For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. (1 Corinthians 15)

The End Times subject is a mega-interesting one to me but its really hard to understand and theres a lot of wordy stuff to it.

I'd so love if somebody could explain it to me in a mandyproof nut shell. I think I've gotten a better handle on it in the last few years buts till could use all the help I could get. ;) mandy

Mandy,

The best teacher you have lives within you, If you want to understand what is written then ask YAH. Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will tell you great and hidden things which thou hast not known. Many people think they know what they are talking about, but 90% just know what they have heard from others, who are wrong. Pray the Scripture from above and read until the HOLY SPIRIT gives you understanding. YAH wants to teach you. There is a song that Don Potter sings about lifting your vision higher; having more vision comes only from YAH !

HalleluYAH,

Memukan

I am 63 years old and early on in my Christian life I was taught that according to prophecy we are in the end times and Christ will coming soon. The trouble is much of scripture used to back up modern day Eschatology did not make sense to me. Recently I discovered why. If you have been taught modern Eschatology then you very much need to visit this web site: 04_page and read Hank Hanegraaff's Book called "The Apocalypse Code". You need to check this out with an open mind and you need to read the scripture for yourself. This teaching of modern day Eschatology was not taught until the mid 1800's !!!! That should tell you something. What did Bible scholars know for over 1800 years that our modern Bible Scholars are missing?

What can Hank Hanegraaff add to one's understanding of the bible that the Holy Spirit cannot add? I am saddened by individuals who quote or refer to a man's work while dismissing the work of the Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit resides in you, 'you have the mind of Christ' and thru the Holy Spirit, 'you know all things'. It will take some work and a love for the Word, but God's answer will come to you.

hi all,

Can anyone say how long the 'last days' are?

God bless.
In Christ, Ted

all the days before Jesus returns. We have been in the last days sense the day Christ ascended into heaven.

Now are we near to Jesus return? That is the big debate, can we know?

It really is not about knowing the time, but being ready for His return.

Often repeated but not exactly true. Paul taught the eschatology of the Bible, which is how it became part of the Bible. The end times were spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 24 & 25. Paul taught of them in the same manner.

hi woodpecker,

Very Good!! That was the point I was driving at. As I understand the plan of the Scriptures, the first days were the days of this creation before the way of salvation was complete. The last days are all the days after.

So, are we in the last days? Absolutely! And have been for quite some time. Yes, the next question that we would like to have the answer to is how near we are to our Lord's return. I can see the signs appearing, but even with that knowledge, there is still no definitive time line in which we might determine exactly when he will return or how close we are to his return. All we can say is that his return is nearer than it was yesterday.

I agree that we can see some terrible, terrible times have come upon man because of the practice, acceptance and approval of just the sort of wickedness that Paul wrote to us in warning, but can it get worse? Oh, I imagine so. We still don't suffer unto death here in the US or Canada or Great Britian or Mexico or in any number of other nations for the gospel of eternal life through Jesus, but there's no gaurantee that by the time Jesus returns christians all over the world won't be under severe persecution, even unto death.

We see accounts such as the shooting in the Oklahoma theatre or the bombing of the Murrah building or the attack of 9/11 or the subway deaths in England or the car bombings all over the Middle East and consider, could we be near the end? However, the truth is that it could get a lot worse. We could be reading of such atrocities every day!

We see the wickedness of man in the acceptance of same sex values and pornography and greed and theft and lust and prideful arrogance all over the world. All warnings that we know will usher in the return of Christ, but could it get worse yet? Oh, I think so.

There are earthquakes in diverse places, but could there be more? Most probably.

The Scriptures tell us that God himself shortened the days of the tribulation because if they were allowed to continue there should not be any flesh left. Somehow that paints a picture in my mind of a pretty terrible existence immediately leading up to that day of our Lord's return. I honestly don't think we've seen the worst yet. I am confident that things are going to get a lot worse.

Stand firm and persevere in righteousness and faithfulness to your God. For He will reward those who love Him unto death.

God bless you.
In Christ, Ted

I think there is at least 500 years before the end times.
Human wickedness is definitely increasing, but it could far worse i'm sure

we are in the end times, have been since the day the apostles wrote to the first church's.

When Christ returns it will be like the days of Noah, and Lot, sin and debauchery was so great, and God was forgotten, everyone was living for themselves.

We are to live everyday as if Christ might return.

26 “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. 27 In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 “And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building— 29 until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed. 31 On that day a person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return home. 32 Remember what happened to Lot’s wife! 33 If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it. (Luke 17)

scary to think it can get much worse...
