  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are video games evil?

I've been playing video games for a very long time. I've played Grand theft auto since I was eight years old, and I turned out fine.
I think something that brings people so much joy can't be evil. That's just my definition though of course.

I used to get extremely frustrated with video games whenever they got too difficult so I guess there is a bad side to them, but at the same time though I sometimes thought they were a good way to channel your frustration into something else without taking it out on other people. However, like TV, you could still become addicted and desensitized by them and too much of it can come between you and your relationship with God. Little kids could especially become more lost into what they're playing and are probably more likely to get into arguments with the person they're playing with. But I do think there can be games that are good and games that aren't good. If you were playing one of those violent M rated shooting games then you probably would not have an easy conscience, but I think the Mario games would be perfectly harmless for any Christian person. Just be careful of what games you play and don't let them become more important than God.

There is one popular person on the internet that I will never associate myself with though and he's called the "Angry Video Game Nerd", because all he does is review games in an angry manner while yelling and swearing every second. God would not want me watching that.

You do realise he's a joke/parody reviewer, right....
