  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are there dolphins in heaven?

Not sure about dolphins, but I learned that the octopus is very intelligent too, after watching this series on Netflix. Hopefully if there's a sea, it will have octopuses and dolphins in it.

Thread discussion: Are there dolphins in the new heaven and new earth?

I'd go with no, since there is no more sea, but what do you think?
No more sea? No walks along the seashore? No scuba diving to reefs of tropical fish? No sailing? You are making heaven sound unappealing.

I think we need to look at "no more sea" in the passage (what the sea meant to the non-seafaring Jews, what it meant to John) and first determine if it is literal, symbolic, or both.

I think of the "sea of glass" in Revelation. We may think of it one way (as smooth, calm, etc) but that is not how the immediate audience would have pictured it (cloudy, jagged, rough).

What is being said can possibly be lost if we are not careful.

That said, I don't care about having dolphins in Heaven. Nobody ever said "no more lakes", and that's where the bass live. :)

Well I've never known heard of God creating anything that is not life. This is not the real realm. He made all before the fall so.. what after the fall its just gone? So water before the fall and now but never after?

I'm going with man has no clue to whats in store, can't even imagine. For me if its here it will be there and wait till you see whats there that is not here...things you have no words for.

It's okay, we won't remember, so we won't care.

The Revelation speaks of there being no more sea because of what "the sea" represents symbolically. Not that the oceans and seas and large lakes suddenly vanish from the face of the planet. "The sea" represented danger in the ancient world, storms came from the sea, invading peoples came from the sea. The Philistines, for example, were very likely related to the "Sea Peoples" mentioned as being at least partly responsible for the Bronze Age Collapse that saw the end of nearly every major civilization and power in the eastern Mediterranean. The Egyptians speak of them and how Egypt nearly ended, just like the Hittites and Mycenaeans did.

The sea represented danger, powerful enemies lay across the sea, the storms were a danger to anyone who would risk going on board a ship into the sea.

The future world will be a world without the threat of danger, death, and violence--but a perfect world in which God's peace and justice abound.

How could you possibly know this?

Various verses from Isaiah and Revelation.

One passage shared with Revelation and Isaiah saying they will not become hungry or thirst anymore, nor will the sun strike them.

Another passage says there will be no more sun or moon, because God will be the light of it.

It makes sense however, the carnal senses are discouraged as a guidepost, and it is written the carnal senses cannot even discern the things of the spirit. However, it is also said we have the mind of Christ, that he has given us a new heart, and in the new heaven and new earth, we will have a new body.

The changes occurring within us who are born again by the Holy Spirit, seem to point in the direction where the carnal order is completely tuned out, and we experience something entirely different. We really will be like the stars forever and ever.

However, since "the former things will not be mentioned or remembered" there will be no comparison.

Which would explain why the sea in God's presence is glassy.

It does NOT say that there will be no more sun or moon. It says that the new city will not need the light from the sun or the moon because the glory of God will light it up.
Of course even the city may be symbolic as its said to be the bride of Christ, which is the church. So the city could even be symbolic for the church (ie saved) residing with Christ. Revelation actually says very little, practically nothing about the physical environment we will dwell in or what the cosmos etc will look like, other than it will be great and yes.
I do expect to be able to feel heat and cold. Can the heat burn me? maybe not, can the cold freeze me, maybe not, but i'll be able to feel them to an extent.

May God Bless you. There is a sea in heaven and there are animals in heaven. Heaven is like earth. There are mountains, houses, food etc.The difference is that in heaven everything is pure and perfect, nothing dies in heaven and there is no evil. Think of heaven as earth a million times more beautiful!
