Prophesying by itself has no predictive element.
When linked with "Word of Wisdom" it can include predictions.
Be aware that sometimes what is mistaken for a "prediction" is actually the gift of faith manifesting. It only looks like a prediction.

thanks for explaining it for us that way!

I've been blessed reading these posts. I rejoice especially to see Trish1947 and Jai___ intent on understanding the truth. Jai___ and Trish1947, even though I concur with the replies others have given you, I strongly encourage you to keep Scripture rather than people you might trust as the basis for your understanding. IOW, most people are like the Thessalonians whom Paul commended for simply recognizing the word of God from his mouth (I Thess 2:13), but God says the Bereans were more noble than the Thessalonians (Acts 17:11) for making sure they saw the truth for themselves in scripture. This is the only way to keep from inheriting lies. Jeremiah 16:19 - O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

Great job, starcrystal, for all the scripture references!

Joe, No one ever said you were lying. But the way you made it seem was as though God would say something like, "Hey Joe, Mary was at the club last night and she had sex with a man she didn't know!"... What I am saying is God would not just tell you things unless He had a point, but you made it seem as though you were God's confidante and He'd just tell you people's secrets without telling you to DO something with the things He told you.

Kenneth - Thanks.. I am still questioning though..... :) I guess I will pray on it and ask God to show me how it works persay :)

Maybe sister--you need to reread his posts. Joe plainly said that God didnt tell him this to go back and say so and so did this and that. He also said this has only happened twice and both times, he was correct. You dont think God can tell someone something?
What about the woman at the well? Jesus knew her history, and the Bible says that Jesus said we shall do greater miracles than he did, so why the doubt that we cant know by the Spirit of God who is living a lie and who's living by the truth??
Thanks

Trish you are right about soulish and false prophecies.
My husband and I received a word we were to start a deliverance ministry.. ok that fit in with the feelings deep in our spirit. And it has been a success since,
But then the same guy tried to get me to move down there because he said he wanted to use my anointing.. well it turned out to be a false prophecy and a total disaster. My husband wasted two months working for that charlatan. So now my conviction is.. God can use the biggest fool and idiot but always trust your own discernment and dont let a few tapdancers blindside you. I am working hard on forgiveness at the moment i pray others learn from our mistakes.
I am only glad he stayed with him and we didnt drain our savings for the preacher like the preacher intended us to originally.

How true. I look for confirmations too, and i am very skeptical of others prophecies over me. It got to the point a few years ago I wouldn't go up for prayer any more because some "prophet" seemed to have a word for everyone. Just didn't seem too scriptural at all.
On rare occasions I've had preachers prophecy something to me I knew was from the Lord, and I would automaticly get confirmations later, usually that night or the next day.
What I trust more is when the Lord gives me a word directly and then anothet believer confirms it without ever having known what the Lord showed me.

I think one problem in the church is people often accept prophecy without testing it or judging it. That doesn't mean to judge the prophet, it means to test the word they've spoken to you.

"Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge." ~ 1 Cor. 14:29

"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." ~ 1 John 4:1

I have been trying to get my life in order somewhat and focusing on going to doctors trying to find out whats wrong with me.. hahaha she says the tests are all normal but yet the stuff is there.. She is stumped as I am.. I told everyone it was spiritual
My husband did get a much better job actually now and we are saving for a house.
I have about 200 people I help now and I have helped many more with spirits in their houses and such.
The warfare is annoying and so is hearing about my materially successfull peers from Highschool but I am trying to believe it will all come in time
In the meantime Im upset because I have small veins and they almost drained one dry and my arms are all bruised up from being poked for bloodtests and I look like a heroine addict no offense to any on here.
Im praying she finds out whats wrong and we can correct this once and for all.. an exwitch turned minister told me often if God doesnt heal the damage the catalyst of a spell that turns to sickness, then meds will,.. So i am taking his advice and seeking medicine. I am learning meds are of God and the false prophet who told me to go off them was lying..
And im busy planning my grandmas wedding..sixty one and she met her soulmate and he is a strong christian who is bringing her right into Gods arms and i am SO happy for her!

Medicine is of God, though I try to shy away from chemical meds. Herbal teas and other remedies work wonders, and are supported by Scrpture. Isaiah wrote about Hezekiah putting a lump of figs on a boil. Jesus make a kind of concoction out of mud for healing someones eyes. And Luke, the gospel writer was a doctor.
Those preachers that say don't take any meds and if your'e not healed you don't have faith... they are just what you said: false prophets. Sometimes God heals directly by His Spirit, and sometimes we gotta take meds. Funny, right before I read this post I had a sneezing fit so I made an Alka Seltser Cold drink ~ Cherry flavour....yummie, (Even if it does have chem meds in it)

I never said God doesn't tell people things. I know for a fact that He does, and for me to say He doesn't would be unBiblical, and that is not my style. It is all about perception, dear, and the way he made it seem was as if it was more of a God telling him a person's personal business with NO REASON FOR DOING SO. That was my issue. I never said I doubted anything. You're adding words to what I said. Please don't do that. :)

Amen, test the spirits, see if they bring you closer to the Lord.

If the Lord took you in vision to the courts of heaven, if you sat at the feet of Jesus while there you asked all the questions you could think of, would you be able to answer all the world's questions. Would you get them all right? Would you know all the truth? Would you only know that which the Lord has shown you?

Until you have walked with God, in the close personal way that a prophet would, it is hard to understand that which they say or write to be the Word of God and that which is the prophet's understanding based upon what they believe and know to be true at that time.

The Word of God and the Holy Spirit are our personal guide as to which that is true. If the words of the prophets lead us to a closer walk with the Word of God and the Holy Spirit lights up that understanding to be true. It is the signature of God upon His work that we must look for. Those things are good and profitable for us.

The last two prophets are called the two witnesses in Revelation. When they prophesy, it comes to pass before the world's eyes. We will see tremendous things come to pass at the close of earth's history. We will experience many things, as the controversy between good and evil heats up. Satan will come at do the greatest imitation of Jesus Christ to fool all the world into thinking that Utopia is here. We will know it is not Christ because Satan can not come in the flesh and he is not Holy. His is exceedingly bright, but is not full of glory. What follows in the wake of His passes is death and distruction. He may say all the blessings that Jesus gave on the Mount and perform miracles to claim his prize. He wants to sit on the throne of God. If it were possible he would deceive even the very elect. God is preparing his children for the great deception. He is moving upon the hearts of His children, He is leading and guiding His children into a closer walk with Him, they are hearing His voice, Come out of Her my People. "Behold he stands at the dooor and knocks, if youhear his voice, and open the door, He will come in and talk with you, and you with Him." Rev 3:20
Only God can lead us into all the truth, follow the shepard and he will lead you.

In the last days, men and women will dream dreams and have visions. Prayerful take each to the Lord in prayer and ask Him if it is so. Develop such a close relationship that "before you call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." Is 65:24

One was about Libya--I had a vision a few days before they told Bush they had WMD. This came to past. They are allowing in inspectors just I was told in a vision.
Two was about some land a church was trying to purchase so they could build a new sanctuary. God told me while I was speaking at that particular church that they would receive the land free--I spoke it to the congregation--8 days later the owner of that piece of land signed it over.
Another vision is we will be struck in the year 2006, and the weapon will come out of Libya, but it WONT be from the Libyan Government directly.
I have others.
God Bless

Moses went up the Mount to talk with God, prophets were down the mount and in the congregation, for they could not get any closer, but took the messages to the people. You are blessed to have a relationship with God, and may you be taken up in vision to Mount Zion. God is looking for someone to eat the little book that is sweet and sour.

Would you get them all right? Would you know all the truth? Would you only know that which the Lord has shown you?

The following is a portion of an experience I had in December 1994:

"I did emerge on a "shore" which was the shore of infinity. There I was met by Biblical Prophets, 2 of which were John the Baptist and the Apostle Paul. The latter told me that this was the place he had been on his journey, he called it the "3rd Heaven" in II Corinthians 12:1 - 4. He had entered Paradise, hearing unspeakable things it was unlawful (not permitted) to utter.
In fact, I was not allowed to speak of this to anyone for at least 10 months. Not that anything bad would happen, but thats just how it went. At one point I felt very detached and percieved Earth so far away, back through all those multi-realms. For a moment I literally felt and heard every Truth, every Lie, and every Thought ever uttered by every living being, everywhere. this lasted only one to two seconds. Then I experienced what I can only describe as a "brain circuit overload" and my consciousness snapped back into my body. The journey back didn't take long, only seconds, whereas the journey out took many minutes, perhaps an hour.
I wrote down what I had just experienced. It was a mind shaking experience - free of any drugs, and beyond anything one would experience with drugs. Indeed, only a Soul and Spirit free of intoxication could even enter such a place and percieve the forms accurately."

Bottom line is, I think we can only know what our brains are capable of. since we are not God, nor are we "gods" we can never comprehend EVERYTHING. But what we do come away with after such experiences still is awesome, though limited by our human nature and mental capacities....
