I've been pondering this for a while,Are the westboro baptists true calvinists? If not, then what scriptures debunk their views?
No, they're not true Calvinists.

The most obvious is in Calvinistic ecclesiology. They're unaffiliated with any other churches, and have no standing relationships with any other churches.

The church itself consists of about a dozen longterm families, most of whom are a part of the pastor's extended family.

The public profession of the early church was its own record of sexual purity, not its condemnation of one particular sexual sin. Westboro seems to major on the minor here.

One wonders why they haven't noted that their own sins would cause God to hate them, too. As this doesn't appear to be their concern, I don't agree that their position on Total Depravity even begins to align with Calvinist theology.

Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. Rom 2:1

Is that calvinism at the speed of light?

Haha, actually Hyper-Calvinism proper is not a form or variation of Calvinism at all, but an entirely different worldview and doctrine. The word "hyper" is not merely an adjective or a pejorative way to refer to Calvinism.

Calvinism and Hyper-Calvinism are two different things.

Here is more information:

Monergism :: Hyper-Calvinism

A Primer on Hyper-Calvinism

These are not misrepresentations of Hyper-Calvinism, in my experience. I have listened to sermons of Hyper-Calvinists, and one of the first things I learned is that they believe you don't necessarily have to have faith, or even come to faith at all before you die, to qualify as the elect. They believe some people may be elect, even unbelievers, and will go to heaven when they die. To these hyper-calvinists, faith is merely a comfort, but not a necessity.

Anyways, to me this flies in the face of sola fide (justification by faith alone), which true, historical Calvinism affirms.

I'm sure if you poked around in Hyper-Calvinism long enough you would find many other borderline heresies, if not outright heresies.

Another important tenet of hyper-calvinism (which those articles I linked will mention) is that they see no difference between the secret, decretive will of God and the revealed will of God. Thus, they find little or no reason to evangelize, or at least, they view evangelism differently than the rest of us.

Faith
Calvinist
  1. Denies that the gospel call applies to all who hear, OR
  2. Denies that faith is the duty of every sinner, OR
  3. Denies that the gospel makes any "offer" of Christ, salvation, or mercy to the non-elect (or denies that the offer of divine mercy is free and universal), OR
  4. Denies that there is such a thing as "common grace," OR
  5. Denies that God has any sort of love for the non-elect.
I happen to believe all the above is scriptual and the "normal" Calvinism is watered down to be palatable.

Faith is a gift from God. Does God love those vessels fit for destruction?
It may be a (legal) duty for man to acknowledge God as Creator, but certainly one who is totally depraved cannot have a duty to believe savingly.

It is not so heretical to believe so. The OPC has not "officially" adpoted Common Grace or the "well intended offer." I don't consider the PRC to be Hyper, but I guess it is per this definition.

John Calvin taught baptismal regeneration. Does that mean that if I do not believe or practice this that I am not a true Calvinist? Calvin also stated that God "lisps" His Word to us. I happen to believe that God does not have a speech impediment. Does this also mean that I am not a true Calvinist? I am also a fundamentalist. No doubt, in the minds of many, that disqualifies me from being a Calvinist altogether, just like my Calvinism will disqualify me from being a true fundamentalist in the minds of some. To be quite honest I could care less whether or not one sees me as a true this or a true that. I am a Christian above all things and my concern is the fame and honor of Christ in this world through the preaching of the Gospel separated from worldliness, apostasy and the compromise of essential aspects of the faith that is running rampant in the evangelicalsim of our day (even in the "reform" camp). Whitefield and Wesley did quite well with that during the first Great Awakening. Why can't we? The answers to that question are too voluminous. And yes, I do believe in the free call of the gospel, not the sawdust trail, but the call biblically understood. Matt. 11:28; Gen.4:7a, Matt.22:14, Rev. 22:17
