  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a butterful right on my lower back. its about the size of a half dollar. i dont see anything wrong with it, but if my mom knew she would have a heart attack!
Don't you have to be an adult to get a tattoo??
I don't think they are wrong. I myself would never get one. I think people look much better without them.

I don't think tattoos are wrong.
IMHO they can easily be done bad though. I don't like the look of random tattoos all over someone, or generic tattoos.

As far as Lev is concerned, Lev also tells us we shouldn't wear clothing of mixed fabrics. I think we can ignore most of Lev.

Tattoos may be used by Gangs, but that doesn't mean all tattoos are gang related, anymore than wearing the color red means you are showing off your gang colors.

Happy: Yeah, but not all parlors hold to strict rules. You can get one with parental permission and some places take the kid's word that they have permission as good enough.

You body is a great medium for expression.... great way (if its ur cup of tea) to seal ur religious choice. Its not fun to remove a tatto and if u got a christian one its ur life time promise. Me I get body modification and important events in ym life, I have two sets of earings an upper ear and navel at important times of my life, now I have a really stressful medical thing comming up a week before finals so to keep my sanity I'v promised myself a tattoo so I don't snap during that time. If ur still concerned ask a elder church member what ur churchs stance on them are.... that shoudl clear it up.

Yes, tattoos are wrong. I don't remember the exact verse, but it's the one that says you are not supposed to mark or alter your body.

It's the one right after not cutting you beard or having short hair on the sides of your head. If you don't follow that you can't logically say tattoos are wrong based on that verse.

I dont think Tatoos are bad. But then again, I allready have them, so I may be a bit biased.

Some adive for those that seek to get them though.
1)Make sure the parlor in question is clean. Ask to see the health reocord, and ask them what thier cleaning methods are (regarding needles). If they use steam as a disinfectant, I would recomend not going there. Stick to places that use very high tech radation for cleanliness, or those that always use fresh needles.

2)Make sure it is a design that has meaning to you. If it is something that is going to be on your body for the rest of your life, it darn well better be something that you will not regret. So stay away from anything trendy, and fads come in and out, but your tatoo will be there forever.

3)Get it in a place that can be covered up easily if you need it to be, for either work, school, or whatever. So dont get anything on the hands or on the face or neck.

4)Check out several places before you get it done. MOst places will gladly scetch out an idea for you (though you may have to make an appointment, which might cost a small amount, say 20$ or so), so that you can compare which ideas and artistry you like best. Also, most places have a photo album of their work, and it is a good idea to chekc them out in detaile to make sure the quality is high.

These are just my rules of thumb. I dont really have anythig to support them excepting my experience, but mostly they seem to be basic commen sence ideas. Hope they help in some way.
