I dont think Tatoos are bad. But then again, I allready have them, so I may be a bit biased.
Some adive for those that seek to get them though.
1)Make sure the parlor in question is clean. Ask to see the health reocord, and ask them what thier cleaning methods are (regarding needles). If they use steam as a disinfectant, I would recomend not going there. Stick to places that use very high tech radation for cleanliness, or those that always use fresh needles.
2)Make sure it is a design that has meaning to you. If it is something that is going to be on your body for the rest of your life, it darn well better be something that you will not regret. So stay away from anything trendy, and fads come in and out, but your tatoo will be there forever.
3)Get it in a place that can be covered up easily if you need it to be, for either work, school, or whatever. So dont get anything on the hands or on the face or neck.
4)Check out several places before you get it done. MOst places will gladly scetch out an idea for you (though you may have to make an appointment, which might cost a small amount, say 20$ or so), so that you can compare which ideas and artistry you like best. Also, most places have a photo album of their work, and it is a good idea to chekc them out in detaile to make sure the quality is high.
These are just my rules of thumb. I dont really have anythig to support them excepting my experience, but mostly they seem to be basic commen sence ideas. Hope they help in some way.
