The law is summed up in two commands - Love the Lord with all of your heart, soul, and strenth.OreGal said:No, no, no...c'mon people let's really explore what the Bible has to say
Everything we need to do (and should be doing) is summed up in these commands. That said, let me say, an awful lot of the leviticus commands make sense from a medical standpoint and funny how as we learn more about medicine we can look back and say, wow, they were already doing that or they already knew it.
Guarantee you'll meet plenty of people in heaven who had tattoos. You just won't see them because I'm relatively sure our glorified bodies won't have our earthly tattoos.

Love your neighbor as yourself.
HOWEVER - that is NOT the totallity of the law - it is rather the basics of the law.If you want the pre-K version of the law: there you have it - two commands. If you want the graduate course - there are 613 mitzvot. AND As I have said - Christ tells us that not one IOTA of the law will be done away with until the heavens and the earth pass away. The earth is still here so the law is still here also.
Matthew 18
2He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Tangnefedd said:I don't want to take my body into the hereafter, I hope there will be no need of bodies just a communication of the spirit. How can anybody logically think that a body that has rotted, or been created will be resurrected just makes no sense at all, unless you think God is going to magic the bits together, OH PLEASE!!!!
You're welcome to stay in pre-KOreGal said:I'm okay with the pre-K version, thank you
1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1Co 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
Heb 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
Heb 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Of course not. Many of them do not apply on a DAILY basis - others only apply to Levites - others only to women.Shannonkish said:So.. Br Max.. you happen to follow all 613 of them on a daily basis?
OreGal said:back to the topic at hand. I have a tattoo. Got it before I was a Christian but I have no problems with it now and have actually found, it opens up doors into discussing my beliefs with non-Christians, especially teens. God can and will use anything for His good if you let Him.
If you want to have one - go right ahead. Just don't try to make the case that doing it is right in the eyes of God.Tangnefedd said:I have a very small one, self inflicted, that seemed a good idea at the time, with hindsight it wasn't very clever. I don't really like tattoos but defend to the death anyone's right to have one if that is what they would like.
the "for the dead" stipulation was not connected to the Tattoos but to the CUTTING of the flesh. Basic grammarShannonkish said:I see... so the fact that Lev 19:28 has the stipulation of "for the dead" in it doesn't mean anything?
Geneva Study Bible Circa 1599 said:[font=Arial, Helvetica][font=Arial, Helvetica]19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any l marks upon you: I [am] the LORD.

NOTICE that the cuttings are for the dead - the tattoos are separated from that modifying phrase. The prepositional phrase for the dead modifies the word right in front of it - CUTTINGS. There is nothing to indicate that it also modifies the tattoos comment except wishful thinking.Lev 19:28

You might not like my answersNo I'm SURE you will not like my answers.
Part of my religious trainingWhen was the last time you wrote your own copy of the law?
OH don't be obtuse. The "fringe refered to are the Tzit-TzitFringes died out in the 80s... none of my clothes have fringes...
You have never used Tafilan? I have.I haven't seen a single person with the Word of God bound on the arm or the head.
It is. In Israel. It is also standard practice in my order. You are aforded a years "leave" after marriage.Man, I wish this tradition was still in place...
Every year. Old Testament and New testament. Would you like the list?I can't even name all the festivals, let alone celebrate all of them. How about you?
You should try kosher beef. It's also corn fed rather than hopped up on hormones.I don't know about you, but I purchase my meat at Kroger, and therefore cannot examine the marks.
Debt always hinders growth.Guess my college loans are hindering my growth in God!
Well that's okay. I'm sure you have plenty of other clothes as well.Dang, I have to get rid of my favorite sweater now!
3 steps to the alter - 3 more to the high alter.Lots of protestant churches fail here..
As a matter of fact we do. It's called the Eucharist.Does your church do this every week?
DO this too.I am allergic to incense.... another black mark on my record, right?
Anything else?
I never claimed to be ANYTHING. You asked - I answered. Nothing I DO makes me any more or any better of a Christian - but we are still supposed to DO and to TRY. We should fight the good fight and run the race.Shannonkish said:Congrats for you Br.Max... you have now become Super Christian... your reward-- oh wait...
nevermind.
I agree . But , since righteousness is not based on the Law , I can ignore it . It wasn't written to me , anyway .
