  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are scientists dumb?

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a giant cultural need for the everyday Joe/Jane to outsmart those egghead idiots in their ridiculous academic setting. The scientists need to be dumb so that the layman can make them look foolish and assert control and stability over an important piece of their lives.

In a perfect fable, the scientists would say, "Golly, I've never looked at it that way before! You must be right!"

It's more American than apple pie that the average joe/farm kid/street-smart kid outsmarts the formally educated buffoon. We're all middle class here in the US, all average--which makes our acheivements even more impressive. hardy-ha-ha.

Which is how we can get stuck with such an "educationally-challenged" president, and people somehow think it's folksy or cute.  It's better to have an underachiever in office, because joe sixpack can identify with an underachiever and that's less threatening.

Never mind the fact that the job requires the best and the brightest.....
