Ok - I am kidding and I do like Ron DeSantis I wish him all the best. But the guy looks so much like John Ritter used to look. I am reminded of it each time I see his pic.

I think DeSantis has done very well in Florida and I hope he continues to be successful.

DeSantis is a morally depraved man and a bully. He assisted in torture at Guantanamo Bay. He regularly resorts to crude caricatures and ridicule of minorities. That speaks alot to his character. He is nothing like John Ritter, who was a kind and humorous man.

That's DeSantis. People down here in Florida that voted for him are OK splitting their nose to spite their face, I guess.

I live in Orlando, though, which is an island of blue in a sea of red. Most of the state is full of tax dodgers or the same ignorance you see in any other state south of the Mason-Dixon, where often cruel, fundamentalist religion and political conspiracy theories go hand-in-hand.

Florida is ninth of 51, counting DC. So yes. Interestingly, seven of the top 10 states with the worst COVID-19 death rates are are red state, with two purple states and one blue state. About 82% of states had lower death rates then Florida.

As the oceans warm, we see more and more severe storms. What's Gov. Ron's position on climate change? Yep. So he owns it.

But because of DeSantis' mismanagement, more COVID deaths, an economy sliding into recession and higher inflation rate than most states. But he did get a picture of himself in an airplane with a "top gun" helmet on. That should count for something, I suppose.

Not that it's any great accomplishment. Gov. Ron is neck and neck with yeast infection right now.
In fact, after recent campaign problems, yeast infection is slightly ahead of DeSantis.

Actually, there are fundamentalists in most major religions. And some of them can be very evil people. Fundamentalism is not Christianity, although many fundamentalists are good Christians.

I would say other religions have fundamentalist-esque cliques (especially Islam, but I've even encountered Buddhist that were like this), but Fundamentalism as we know it, as a social-political movement, is mostly the result of Christianity, specifically Protestant Christianity. Fundamentalism is more common in America, less common in Europe. The main thing fundamentalists have in common is authoritarianism, rejection of ambiguity, and rejection of modernity.
