Are Ghosts demons in disguise?

The bible says when a person dies his body turns to dust that returns to the ground, the persons spirit returns to its maker. (I assume to be judged)

? Ecclesiastes 12:7 ?

and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

no I don't believe in ghosts, I believe this kind of activity could be demonic.

God bless

What is a ghostly present?

A demonic entity that doesn't even substantiate visually, but is observationally present (tables turned upside down, telekinetic movement, etc.)

Turns out the room that had the "ghostly" presence was a room the previous tenants used to carry out animal sacrifices... took four days for the plumbers to pull the animal parts out of the pipes.

Thank you. It really threw me off. I was thinking of a wrapped gift.
So you mean a presence was present rather than a ghost leaving you a gift.
Oh how my mind can wander when I don't notice something to be a typo.
Sorry for my misunderstanding.
I have some advice to offer in love but I'm not yet sure how to offer it to you without sounding offensive rather than concerned. So I'll not offer it yet and will pray over it first before deciding if I should offer it at all.
In Christ.
Lilly.

Auto correct owns me... I just realized I typed that as present.

You can offer advice, and I think praying over it beforehand is good.

I don't have attacks like that now, but the future is unknown.

If a persons spirit returns to God as the bible tells us, then they can be no ghosts on earth, correct?

If I do I'll do it in a PM. Your last sentence is encouraging.

Again, I would say it depends on one's definition of ghost.
I don't think human souls are appearing willy-nilly in our living rooms.

Lets look at this from what we do know

When a man dies he goes to either heaven or hell
A ghost claims to be someone just "walking the earth" aimlessly

Now we believe in a God who has absolute control over the universe, would he allow the spirits that HE has utter control over, namely the human soul, to just wander the Earth outside of his judgment, power and control?

If human souls are in heaven or hell, where do these ghosts come from?

The only creatures wandering the earth are those belonging to Satan:

Job 1:7 said:
And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

Ghosts are demonic spirits. Their point is to deceive people (non-christians) into believing that they have an immortal soul apart from God, that they will live after death outside of God's judgment, and they exist to raise the question as to whether or not God himself is real. If the bible says 'heaven and hell' and demonic ghosts say something else, and people see with their eyes the stuff these ghosts do - they'll believe in ghosts and not in God.

The theology of ghosts is completely different. It extends into the new age, mediums, psychics, Uri Geller etc..all this stuff which is forbidden by God as it's DEMONIC.

I hope this helps. Plenty of stuff on youtube about ghosts being demons. Demons are very much real, and as the world falls away from God they're gaining power from worship.

Contrary to popular beliefs, both heaven and hell have not been opened for business as of yet. When a person dies, their soul goes to Sheol, otherwise known as the realm of the dead, to await the resurrection of the dead.

Is that person conscious, aware, awake?

Is Sheol at the centre of the Earth?

I think you'll find Sheol is at the centre of the Earth, and is in fact hell. I'm not getting into bible translation here, but Sheol is Hell. You're talking about hell being the lake of fire. Where you're getting a little bit confused.

Sheol + Hades = hell

Gehenna = Lake of Fire.

Christians go to heaven. Unbelievers go to hell, and then the lake of fire.

I used to believe in 'soul sleep', etc also known as conditional immortality, that may or may not be true, but it doesn't apply to the saved who are passed from death unto life.

As to the discussion of Ghosts and Demons, It applies exactly the same whether or not your theological viewpoint is true. I have no issue with yours being true, or mine. So long as there IS a resurrection

God bless

I have no argument about their being only two final destinations...I believe that spirits can get stuck in a dimension that is not ours yet not heaven or hell, yet still be able to interact with us.

A parable is a story for moral or spiritual teachings..not always to be taken as literal historical fact(did the events in the story actually happen?)...this says it better than I can...The Parables of Jesus

To be honest, I dunno. Only the dead can answer your question.

However, If I would hazard a guess, I would say they are asleep.

Is Sheol at the centre of the Earth?

Yes.

No offense, but I think you are the one who is confusing yourself there.

Sheol/Hades = dwelling place of the dead.

Hell/Gehenna = lake of fire.

Both believers and non-believers go to Sheol to await the resurrection of the dead. It's only after the Great Day of Judgement that believers shall be admitted into New Jerusalem/Heavenly Jerusalem/Paradise. Non-believers, on the other hand, will be thrown into hell for eternity.

If you want Scripture evidence for my beliefs, I would be happy to provide them.

Personally, I don't believe in soul sleep one bit. However, I wholeheartedly believe that both the bodies and souls of the wicked will be destroyed in Hell after Judgement Day.

God bless to you too.

I assume you have seen this video

http://www.christianforums.com/t7834892-2/#post66084736

So then while your experience proves the reality of demons it does not get to the subject of "the dead" , the idea that the dead are ghosts when in fact it is really just so much more demon activity telling a story about being the spirits of the dead.

in Christ,

Bob

I agree. The dead - real dead are awaiting judgment in "paradise" (ref. Parable of rich man and Lazarus.) No dead humans are wandering the earth in spirit form thirsting to move on. That is an attribute of a demon. They lie, entice, deceive and flatter to gain nothing more than "energy." They are not friends, and they are not Caspers.

"Do not turn to the spirits of the dead and do not seek familiar spirits to become unclean by them. I am the LORD your God." - Leviticus 19:31

The Bible condemns seeking contact with "the spirits of the dead". Why would God prohibit contact with the dead if our loved ones really did come back to us as Ghosts?

If people who were true Christians in this life could come back to visit us after they died, why would contact with such entities make us unclean? The only plausible explanation for this, is that ghosts in reality are evil spirits (demons, fallen angels) mimicking the dead. I would advice people who are haunted by ghosts to seek the protection of God, only he is able to protect you from these demons.

Nope. Seen "creepier." Dealt with "other-wordly-ier". Most of that happened in a house whose previous tenant practice ritual sacrifice of animals. If we were the type of people to dismiss and scoff at things like this, we would still be haunted, probably. We prayed immediately, and those entities got mad and called my mom a female dog on a non-existent number. Doesn't scare me; this is a spiritual war. Just because some people are in basic training, and some fight on D-day doesn't mean they are any more or less protected by God. The demonic scratches happened when I was young, and then again later in life.

But, guess what happened? I went from lukewarm, kinda believing in God, to a fiery Born Again Christian after those incidences. From agnostic to Christian. Everything has a purpose, but I will never forget, nor will I scoff at tales of the supernatural and/or demonic. I know it exists.

Christ was sufficient.

A "ghost" scratched me while sleeping - in lucid dream - with the claw marks inverted (i.e. in no direction I could have scratched myself.)

You mean, like, from the INSIDE?

I would call that highly significant.

Familiar spirits are often linked to families and family lines.

To recognize that activity as demonic is legitimate. They are not ghosts.

I think you hit the proverbial nail on the head above.

Even more the need of our Savior. An obviously Superior and Benevolent Force. Sufficient to have shown you the critical information above.

I'd also suggest that every family tree has it's homegrown issues in this arena, though most not as openly obvious. It's often when these wicked forces are pandered to that they become more pronounced and embolded.

Definitely NOT Casper!
