Presbyterianism in Scotland has done this for years. It is meant, primarily, as a pastoral visit by the individual's Deacon or Elder, to see if the family / individual is ok and, whilst there, they would collect the tithe for the past Sunday. Obviously, if they knew that someone was ill, then that visit would be by the Minister and advised to the Deacon / Elder responsible for that person's pastoral care. One assumes that if they are ill and cannot work there may no little, or no, income.
