Stop stepping on them, or check your shoes out before putting them on. We have them where I live, but I have never seen them (yet). Black widows are abound and I run into them a lot Here is one from years ago in my garage....

I do not like killing things, but those can kill my cats if they bit them, so I go kill Black Widdows when found IN the house (not outside).

Of the six I have only stepped on one. I've killed a few. I always check my shoes and anything I have to reach my hand in. I wouldn't have them if I never had to open windows or the door. They don't like the heat. I have plenty of black widows and surprised when Google said mostly they don't kill you. Black W's are easier to kill because of their tell tell webs. No warning with scorpions.

Good grief You must live somewhere where they are plentiful, yes? You don't eat them too, do you?

(I only ask the latter because my wife watches wilderness/survival shows on TV, and scorpions are oft times considered to be "good eat'n" on those shows ).

I don't eat them but I've seen those shows. They are big black ones that they eat.
