I would like to know if I can talk about Arabic here, is it right place ?

Hope it goes well for you; it's an interesting, major language. The Smith-VanDyck version is the usual Protestant edition of the Bible in Arabic that is widely used.

As I understand it, most newspapers and books are written in standard, Classical Arabic similar to that of Cairo.

I'm going to be concentrating on the Levantine dialect as spoken in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, etc. I may branch into Standard, but I am more interested in the commonly spoken language than the printed news, at least to begin with.
