Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

"Dont approach God on the basis of your need. Always approach God on the basis of the provision of that need"

The way I read it is not to approach God focusing on the need that you have, but rather on the fact that God can provide for that need. Does that make sense? It does seem to be worded rather oddly.

I agree. The most crucial thing we can all do is approach God. The way it is worded is a bit of a put-off because it can possibly discourage someone from approaching God at a crucial time.

God is grace......indescribable grace. This quote helps me picture how God is, but even more infinately so:

Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe
with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor to measure
words but to pour them all out, just as it is, chaff and grain
together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keeping what is worth keeping, and then, with the breath of
kindness, blow the rest away. ~George Elliot

When we are His children we can approach our Abba in whatever condition we are in. We can run to Him without giving it a 2nd thought. He's the One Who will help us sort it all out but we must approach Him first. Let's find joy in that freedom.

The point is to come expectantly. When you have faith and expect God to come through for you and don't just wish it might happen... It's better.

Yes. I was tryin' to say this. The point is to COME!! Don't cross examine yerself about how to approach our Abba Who delights in us coming before Him, Who rejoices over us with singing, Who is running TO us even as we are coming! He's so awesomely indescribable I cannot find the words.....

"God tolerates even our stammering, and pardons our ignorance whenever something inadvertently escapes us -- as, indeed, without this mercy there would be no freedom to pray." ~John Calvin

"What our Lord did was done with the intent, and this alone, that he might be with us and we with him." (Meister Eckhart)

"The prayers and supplications that Christ offered up were, joined with strong cries and tears, herein setting us example not only to pray, but to be fervent and importunate in prayer. How many dry prayers, how few wet ones, do we offer up to God!" (Matthew Henry)

"On days when life is difficult and I feel overwhelmed, as I do fairly often, it helps to remember in my prayers that all God requires of me is to trust Him and be His friend. I find I can do that." (Bruce Larson)

"Prayer is going to God, uncertainties and all, climbing on His lap, putting your arms around His neck, and resting your weary head on His chest." ~brinny
