Approaching God

I have a question. I dont quite understand what this quote means which Kenneth Copeland said.

"Dont approach God on the basis of your need. Always approach God on the basis of the provision of that need"

The way I read it is not to approach God focusing on the need that you have, but rather on the fact that God can provide for that need. Does that make sense? It does seem to be worded rather oddly.

I agree. The most crucial thing we can all do is approach God. The way it is worded is a bit of a put-off because it can possibly discourage someone from approaching God at a crucial time.

God is grace......indescribable grace. This quote helps me picture how God is, but even more infinately so:

When we are His children we can approach our Abba in whatever condition we are in. We can run to Him without giving it a 2nd thought. He's the One Who will help us sort it all out but we must approach Him first. Let's find joy in that freedom.

I interpret that statement to mean:

For example, if you need food, don't ask God for food, but ask God to help you find a job to earn money to buy food.

Just food for thought...

its true, and it just means when you pray you need to have your faith and heart fixed on Christ and his mighty power so you can have faith, not on your weakness and problems which bring fear.

its just talking about where your focus is.

The point is to come expectantly. When you have faith and expect God to come through for you and don't just wish it might happen... It's better.

Yes. I was tryin' to say this. The point is to COME!! Don't cross examine yerself about how to approach our Abba Who delights in us coming before Him, Who rejoices over us with singing, Who is running TO us even as we are coming! He's so awesomely indescribable I cannot find the words.....
