  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

After having read this thread and shaken my head over and over again at how miry the conversation became, I realized something.

It is beautiful to see the RCC, EOC, and OOC posters backing each other up like they are. I know this happens fairly regularly. And I won't deny that (especially between RCC and EOC), we come to our impasses, and I, naturally, take the EOC side.

It just ministers to my soul to see us stick together. I am really reminded to pray for RCC/EOC/OOC reconciliation in Truth and in Love. It won't be easy. It won't go quickly (unless God speeds it all up). But I hope and pray that it will happen.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us. :crosseo:

Amen to that! Funny how I was brought up to think of Catholics as sinister and bitter enemies of true faith.

And just now on my father's death I pushed for and got him a Catholic burial (he was a lapsed Catholic). I feel a strong sense of connection to Catholics and it's so irritating when we come to our disagreements and so wonderful when we set them aside!

We are stronger together than apart. Though we have disagreements over dogma (guilty of this), we have a connection to the original Apostolic church established by Christ. We are coming together on common ground and it's very encouraging to see my EO and OO brethren stepping up to the plate with us Roman Catholics.

The Oriental Orthodox , Eastern Orthodox and Catholic are stronger together .
we all represent the Apostolic Church although each one see herself the Church .
we have the same Apostolic roots , we venerate the Theotkos and the saints , we believe in the sacrments .

I suggest to make a thread in the GT to discuss our common beliefs

Nothing like an enemy in common to bring people together.:p

Seriously, I think spending time over in the trench's of GH does a lot of good for unity among the Apostolic Churches.
You know, much as I generally oppose involvement in GT, I think you have a point there!

Kind of like Independence Day ID4 (the movie) or any alien invasion story. Humans pull together pretty quickly in the face of a non-human invader bent on destroying them...

As well as our faith, personally... I mean, look at what goes on there. Any of us, RCC, EOC, or OOC want to leave where we're at to join THAT free-for-all?

I don't know about you, but even though the "discussions" I see in GH are a bit trying to my soul, they also help me in my faith. By having to explain it, it's almost as though I'm further solidifying it in me, too.

And I will grant that our unity HAS to be much deeper than "we're not them". It's a start, though. And since it has brought us into the same trenches with one another, let's hope that while we're in them, we use that proximity to work on what divides us, too.

Oh no...not another reference to a bad action flick...

I'm lucky I made it to the restroom in time after I heard that "speech" by the "President".
