Apple officially discontinues the iPod

I've been listening to my custom playlists on one of my iPods all day.
I understand it, but I still prefer separate devices for music/phone.

I never used apple products, but for about 10 years have daily used a small mp3 player. I usually get Sansa products. I love my phone and will listen to music with it sitting down, but for exercise and running only like the MP3 player. They hold up much better to this activity IMO.

To be clear, they didn't discontinue all iPod models -- the iPod Touch is still being made and likely will be updated. They merely discontinued the iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano. Basically, there is not enough demand for the devices that only play music, particularly since Apple tends not to discount their prices.

The only ipods I've owned have been shuffles. First Coke Zero, and now this! Thanks, Obama.

I stopped using iTunes years ago. Too many updates and takes FOREVER to load.
