Hi, I just joined and I guess that makes me new. I am a Christian and I am very interested in the intellectual approach to Christianity. I don't mind discussion or making friends so talk to and add me if you wish :)

Hi immortal, I'm sure when you selected christianity as your chosen religion there was something about it that captured your imagination and made it stand out from all the others as the one to become involved in ?

Many people worldwide simply drift into the religion their parents were taught as children, and they follow along, I'm sure you wern't blindly led that way, so if you don't mind me asking, what was it that finally convinced you ?

Thanks for all the welcomes guys :) I have a question though...what are these blessing things? I'm a bit confused. To "mut", I have many reasons why I believe. I wasn't raised up in a Christian family. In fact I had one of the worst family environments ever. I have an alcoholic father and my mom cheated on him with 4 dif guys one of which she was with who molested my sister and I and beat us and our mom. My mom stayed with him after knowing these things. Maybe my biggest drive for belief is morality. Even growing up with those things happening I innately knew right from wrong and I have always been one to stand up for what was right. In a non-created world you have to have enough faith to believe a) there is no objective moral truth b) millions/billions of years of "chance" created many intellectual creatures c) The origins of the world are either from nothing, eternal(needing no cause which is not scientific), or unknown....is it to much to place a God entity as that unknown. Imo, it takes a lot more faith than I have to NOT believe in a God than it does to believe. There a lot more reasons to why I believe but I'm on mobile and I think you're only intentions in asking me are to put me down and not out of genuine wanting to learn and I have little care to argue with anyone like that. I make that assumption from your previous thread where you label beliefs as "idiotic". I won't go so low as to do the same to you, but I also won't humor you in a pointless debate. You might be interested in this site if I'm wrong about you and you actually have a genuine desire to learn: provethebible.net
Once again thanks for welcoming me guys :)

Sorry immortal, I was simply asking a question about what led you to choose christianity amongst all other religions, no more no less. If thats too difficult to answer, or you dont want to, or have no reason, thats fine, but I could probably do without the judgement you dealt me.

I make that assumption from your previous thread where you label beliefs as "idiotic".

By the way, don't you think theres anybody in this world with beliefs you may consider 'idiotic' ? Do you know some people believe with all their hearts a man many years ago called Mohummed flew up to heaven on a magical flying horse ? Idiotic, I think so, but if it sounds believable to you you're entitled to your opinion. I have many more religious stories you may consider believable if you would like to hear them. ( maybe in another thread, not the intro )

Firstly, I do have reasons I choose Christianity over all religions, my problem is that this thread wasn't the place for that. From what I can tell this area is for welcoming new members. If you wanted to ask anything other you should have asked personally. As far as people's beliefs go, I don't go around calling them "idiotic", I don't have to agree and I would say I disagree and give my reasoning not put down the person or their beliefs. Once again, I don't have any problem answering, just not to someone who is looking more for ridicule than something genuine. You've already stated clearly that you think belief is "idiotic" so am I to think you want to know out of genuine learning or out of arguementative judgement. I apologize if it came off rude, but it took me aback to be asked this on a welcome thread when I just joined and to be frank, it makes me not want to stay on this site. Also, I have had many discussions with non-believers that either ended up in them saying "I agree, but I still WON'T believe" or putting me down so when someone who has their mind made up asks me about my faith I don't see what other reason they could have for asking other than to belittle me. If you'd like to truly know and you aren't like the many others who I have met that did the above then ask me personally via visitor message or pm. And also check out the site I put up cause if you can't even do that then you obviously don't have a genuine reason for wanting to know.
