I have been in a church where the leaders (who were all male) were said to be apostolic ministers. I never quit understood what that meant, and I really didn't care a whole lot. Titles aren't a big deal to me. To me they were just some preachers, none of whom had completed degrees in seminary or Bible college or whatever they went to. They knew more Scripture than the average Joe. Sometimes their sermons was great, sometimes they were just some commentary with a splash of verses.

I do believe that people can and still do prophesy, but I don't know if they can be called prophets in the Biblical sense. I think the great prophesies that are meant for every person the world over have already been given. But I do think some great prophets will rise up in the very last of the end of days. I don't know if it will be new messages or if it will be confirming or repeating the ones we have already been given. I believe the Holy Spirit confirm the messages of prophesy to those who hear.

1. Do you consider yourself to be an apostle or prophet?

2. Have you met someone who claimed to be an apostle or prophet?

3. Do you believe that person really is an apostle or prophet?
This is a timley and interesting question . Jesus said "Go ye and make disciples of me , teaching them to observe all that I commanded you , etc. " So , if we take the great commission as a commandment of our Lord , then in that sense , yes we are all apostles for I believe apostles means sent ...just as Jesus was sent by the Father .
As regarding prophets , " For the testimony of Jesus IS the spirit of prophecy . " This is from revelation ..If we hold forth the words of Jesus , it is His word and not ours . In many schools of thought , a prophet was one who held forth the word of God ..and Jesus is the Word of God who became flesh and dwelt among us ....Paul said , I would that you would ALL prophecy ...I do not believe the early church consisted of a "preacher" bringing the word of God ..at least not if we consider the letter of the APOSTLE Paul ( who was SENT) by Jesus Christ to the gentiles .

I am not convinced of the modern day prophets making predictions unless these predictions have already been spoken of through the scriptures . There have been many false prophets and false Christ that have made predictions only to have them fail .

1. Neither. I am a disciple, and the title of Apostle should be reserved for the Twelve and Paul.

2. No- I have met those who have a "share" in apostolic succession (bishops), but as I said- we reserve the title of Apostle to the first. I have never met anyone claiming to be a prophet, either.

3. There are still people who can prophesy, but I think a distinction should be made between them and a prophet of Old Covenant proportions. As for Apostles, see 1 and 2.

You won't find apostles nor prophets on the internet without revelation from Yahweh and verified by strict uncompromising righteous true testing. They won't visit a forum. (they openly expose who is saved and who is not saved, who is living right, and who is not - forum rules never allow this for any practical purpose). They won't be seen on tv or other media, except when someone is mocking them or calling them quacks.

A former pastor of mine would tell us we were all apostles since we were all sent out by the Lord. "Apostle" is just a word.

I've run into people who claim to be prophets. I think prophets would be too humble to tell people they are prophets, and again, "prophet" is just a word.

No.

Not sure what my spiritual gift or role is, if I have one.

2. Have you met someone who claimed to be an apostle or prophet?

Yes, years ago - he was having a psychotic episode or something though. He tried to get into a club because God said he had to talk to someone, apparently. Bouncer said he wasn't allowed in, he tried to force his way in anyway. He did not get inside.

When I hear people declare how God called them to be something like that, my first instinct is to put my guard up. Lot of very warped, egomaniacal people want to claim divine authority or calling.

Revelation 21:14 12 names of apostle , even Matthias who was voted to replace Judas did not make it so it's just silly to call somebody apostle nowdays or be self proclaimed one .

You can be prophet tho .

being a prophet or apostle is way too hard of a job for me to want. just like I would refuse to be a nurse. but I admire/respect those folk.

I do have the messed up outcast nature to be a prophet but I don't have the vision or ability to talk to people. I lack too much love and wisdom to be considered an apostle.

prophets are specifically people who are involved with communication with angels and directly inspired by God to say something. I think they can still exist though more and more the modern world might not need such kinds of folk, I don't know. maybe the religious folk could still use a genuine prophet but I tend to not trust anyone that claims to be one.

most often I see "prophets" or "apostles" on the tv, but I hardly watch the tv anymore.

Are you being serious? If so, I don't quite understand.

Remember how Jesus Himself was (/is) treated by the world ? (crucified, mocked, spit on) even by the religious !

Remember then also how the followers of Jesus were (/are) treated by the world - as God's Word Says Clearly. It is not good. The world (including governments, agencies and media) is not "friends" with Jesus , nor with His followers.

The information medium at the time of Christ and earlier was only available mostly through public speaking. Among the Jews, written / printed teachings wasn't popular yet.

Although I agree with you that public speaking if done in a certain way would have a much greater impact than compared to modern means like internet. I think the chosen ones can still use the internet or any other means at their disposal.

Even the public speaking medium did not like Jesus too. Is not friends with Him. But Jesus used them anyway.

So I would think His chosen ones would use any means at their disposal, even modern technology.

Imagine a prophet with speech problems even worse than Moses, then technology, electronic medium could make up for it.

I take it by "chosen ones" that you believe some to be present day prophets and apostles, yes?

Yes and no. Not apostles but disciples. And I don't fully agree that there are assigned prophets today. I think that anyone can receive prophetic dreams and visions but that doesn't make them assigned prophets.
