Apostate churches?

Whether that's true or not I do not know. Luther is not the standard for orthodoxy however.

Agreed, nor is any one man except Christ. The standard for orthodoxy is Scripture. Period.

then it sounds like you agree with Luther that we can not stop Christians from being polygamists?

Adultery is polygamy without a marriage. Has the Catholic Church succeeded in stopping Christians from doing this? When the finger of God engraved "You shall not commit adultery" in stone and gave it to Moses to give to God's chosen people I think it was pretty obvious that it was not because God's chosen people were behaving themselves, despite the leadership of Moses and the direct and multiple intervention of God throughout the Exodus.

Even if Scripture whole-heatedly endorsed polygamy Scripture also commands us to yield to the law of the land. The law of the land forbids polygamy and there are secular penalties in place to punish those who do. The law does not seem to punish adultery though.

Even if Scripture permits polygamy, Christ gave authority to the Church to bind and loose; My Church forbids it, as I believe yours does also.

We can prevent it within the Church only if the Church and it's leaders have the balls to deal with it; and Church discipline must be exercised with compassion so that offenders can be lead to repentance, and receive forgiveness for their sins.

We can no more prevent it in society than it seems we can prevent a lot of other stuff which is directly against Scripture.

if you want to see apostate church simply look for those with a board of directors - a IRS 501.c3 corporation of the state. Haven't even looked into the new 501.c4 tax exemption... Jesus isn't the head when a church has these exemtions.... And yes your church has a BoD....

It seems the early Church had a BoD also; they met at the Council of Jerusalem.:preach:

Were they "apostate"?

Ecumenism is the gateway to apostasy. When you begin to see "christianity" merging with Roman Catholicism, Islam, eastern philosophy, Hinduism, etc., then you know. Oh, btw, we are there! A list of apostate practices permeating the church today; Yoga, Transcendental Meditation, Witchcraft, Labyrinth, health wealth, psychology, and last, but not least...drum roll please... A DEPARTURE FROM THE AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE!

Catholicism is Christianity.

There's an ancient labyrinth at Willen Abbey.
More than one way to meditate.
Not everyone could get out for long bracing walks so a prayer walk around a labyrinth did the trick.
Ecumenical Council member churches are all churches, Roman Catholics are Christians as are many gay people.
Where's the beef?
It's not for us to condemn any other denomination, certainly not for us to judge another's Christian path.
