If you live in a pretty populated area you could look into something like Dell. You could also do an internet search and find something cheaap. I get dial-up for $6/month compared to AOL's $20+ fees.

PupppyForChrist.....I use broadband and I have a modem.....Dial Up and Broadband are the type of connections. IF you want something better go wtih Earthlink. They are who I recommend.

I too use Earthlink, and I've been using their ISP since Sept 1999~ I was quite happy with them, until last October (2002) when they switched me to a different access # (the ONLY one in Salem! ) and I've had nothing but grief since then. It always been very slow; as I live more than 5 miles from the main line, but since the switch it's slightly slower, and I get booted off every two hours, which I've NEVER been before.

I've tried putting in the init string to push it, but my modem's oblivious to that

Someone did suggest that I upgrade the modem driver, as my modem is a soft internal kind (a cheapie, too) from Dell that I bought in 2001. Could an upgraded driver do a better job?

Loribee....you migh twnat to check your settings....and then update your drivers.

I use Bellsouth Fast Access DSL. I wish I used Earthlink
