Btw thanks for the post.

Does anyone realy like the auxilery service that aol or other isp's provide? No realy this is a true question.

I hate the home page that isp's give you. I have google search page set for my default. But i only have the option of dialup, so that home page takes an extra minute to load.

What services do these isp's realy offer?
spam protection? Ive never had more spam in my life than when i was with aol.
Virus protection. Well with th tons of free virus protection programs out there, why bother. Is there something that im missing? please let me know if there is.

Btw being stuck with dialup i use allvantage.com its $6.95/mo with unlimited use. Also i have never had even one piese of spam or even a virus. in the last 2 years of use. Btw i dont even uses a virus blocking program. I use firefox for my browser.

Ah people... Please don't use AOL. It's such a bad software and service. And the company is really bad too. They get sued all the time, and you never hear about the bad things they do because they are so huge. Please get off of AOL.

And if you have a high speed connection, you don't need AOL! Just use your internet explorer (or firefox or opera).

There are only two things that AOL still has to do with my Internet experience - AIM and my browser's home page is almost always set to http://search.aol.com/, whether I'm in Firefox, Opera, or IE. My parents are hopelessly ensnared by MSN, though. I've not gone through a content provider since our AOL period wore out and we got standalone Roadrunner broadband, which was like 4 years ago. Actually it could have been earlier, if we'd been using NetZero in 2001. I can't for the life of me remember.

I wonder, though, how much this move will actually impact their user-end services. I sort of see this as a death knell, but maybe it won't be.

But I have Charter Cable High Speed Internet.

Verzion DSL is not offer in my area if it was I mosty likely would switch since i am paying $39.99 a month with Charter right now.

The Black Plague of Death is free too...but I don't think I want it. ^_^

If you use AOL and it gets the job done, more power to ya!

I've been a PC tech/tech support monkey on and off since '98. The absolute *scourge* of the online and computing world at large has consistently been...AOL. Hands down. For a multitude of reasons.

I'm not gonna tell the horror stories of trying in vain to remove a botched AOL install...

Well this thread was not to bash AOL, it was to inform people that AOL was now free for Broadband users and is $9.95 for dial up users.

What might be for other people isn't for all people.

Like I don't really see any big problems with AOL.
