Anything Positive???

During my time on this forum, I have supplied numerous verses that condemn homosexual behavior. Gay christians do mental gymnastics to manipulate, explain away, reinterpret, twist, make excuses for, make assumptions, make complicated explanations for, and/or eliminate them altogether for various 'reasons'.

So my question is...

If God is in favor of homosexual behavior, can anyone show me anything positive in the Bible about homosexuals or homosexual behavior?

I'm still looking for ONE verse in the Bible that mentions homosexual sex in a positive way. Every time I see homosexuality mentioned, homosexuals are either being destroyed by God or condemned.

ANYONE?

First 'fib' ...there are NOT numerous verses/scriptures referring to homosexuality in the first place. What you and others MIGHT have done is to present the same one or two scriptures that YOU believe address 'homosexuality' NUMEROUS times.

The 'various reasons' might include: (a) one does not see their unasked for sexual orientation as being a sin, (b) the scriptures presented to denounce homosexuality are ambiguous enough to warrant a different explanation than that normally accepted based on context, and (c) many of the ancient texts of the Bible have become invalidated because they are of cultural construct. Stoning an adulterer, someone profaning the Sabbath, a disobedient child, for instance, defies logic.

The truth of the matter is that you've never seen homosexuality per se mentioned AT ALL in the scriptures. The word 'homosexuality' is a fairly recent substitute for the word 'sodomy'. The 'taboo' of homosexuality is mainly a social construct and it was introduced to the Bible by MAN. As far as I know there is NOTHING in the Bible referring to the topic of homosexuality that we're discussing on this subforum so your question is a moot one. By the way, I don't recall seeing anything positive mentioned in the Bible about barren women, the crippled, the blind, the deaf, the mentally impaired, etc. I understand that these things were seen by many as being the result of 'sin' also. In fact, I do believe there are certain so-called Christian sects today that denounce sickness, impairments, and other disabilities which they consider to be 'of the devil'. Sounds familiar. Throughout history Christianity has been the cause of many abominations toward human beings. All in the name of God, of course. It has a lot to answer for.

Both neutral and encouraging verses have been quoted on this forum and have been dismissed as not "positive" enough by you or by others who have started threads asking this question.

So, first you post a couple of verses promoting hetero-sex, so that we can see just what you would accept as a "positive." Because, frankly the Bible does not speak of any sex in what you seem to be looking for as a "positive" way. The closest are verses such as "XXX knew his wife and she concieved and bore him a son and they named him YYY." and 1 Corinthians 7:9, which can be read as tolerating sex but not celebrating it.

Do you know your bible has NUMEROUS verses on slavery..how to own a slave, where to buy a slave, how to treat a slave, how a slave should behave..etc..Do you believe owning another human being is okay? It seems your bible tells you so..

There are verses that support a man having concubines and multiple wives..should we as Christians advocate for that?

What you have supplied is nothing more than the usual "clobber passages" used by the antigay faction which merely give some indication of ancient tribal sexual customs. The "condemnation" supplied therein cannot be clearly identified to refer to loving same gender physical relationships of today and even if it did it would only be an obscure artifact of ancient culture, nothing upon which a rational person would base their prejudices.

Well, there is always Jonathan and David, Ruth and Naomi, the Centurion and his servant in Matthew 8 and the eunuch in Acts 8 but the question is an irrelevancy to a rational person.

There is absolutely no documentation in the Bible of "homosexuals being destroyed by God" and no mention of anything resembling "condemnation" as you falsely claim.

No one who is going to consider the idea of treating our LGBT brothers and sisters as persons of dignity and worth can consider your ridiculous question with any form of seriousness at all. It matters not and is merely invoked as a distraction to gullible who seek a justification for their prejudices.

This particular part here:

is especially fraught with false assumptions and invalid premises. What "God" is in favor or or not in favor of is not in any sense anything which can be found in the Bible or any other sacred text. Where specific Levitican prohibitions occur it is not at all the voice of "God" but it is specifically the voice of the powerful in the ancient society seeking to create divisions to justify their power. These sections were written after the Babylonian Exile and were the voice of a small group of the returnees who sought to reinstitute Hebrew culture after the exile. As we later see in the gospels the elite had significant prejudices against the mongrelized Samaritans who adopted some Babylonian cultural practices and were considered "not good enough" by the powers that be then; just as now these same powers that be use LGBTs as a a convenient scapegoat.

As I stated above, passages have been presented, but they are rejected as "not positive" enough. And yet there are no passages regarding heterosex which are any more positive. Present a passage which shows your concept of positive.

BTW, have you stopped beating your wife, yet? (This is presented as another question which the answer will be ignored if it is too "convoluted," and yet which can't be answered directly because the question encompasses false assumptions that must be countered before a simple answer can be made.)

There are no positive references in the Bible to homosexuality.

I want to give you at least one sane post in here, and tell you that I support your defense of the scriptures 100%

And to everyone else, please be reminded that it is NOT hateful to proclaim that homosexuality is a sin. It is a sin. We love the sinner, but hate the sin. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that...stop defending lies.

Personally I don't care how the church views homosexuality. I don't even care if you say there can't be gay Christians.

What I care about is people voting and using legislature to impose their will on others because they view it as sinful.

Yes..didn't the christian god give people freewill? Now the followers of god are taking it away from others in so much as voting against it..? Is that called following or leading?

Why do you make it sound like the only people with the power to vote are the Christians? Everyone, who is of legal age and status in this country can vote on this issue. People should always vote their conscience when they go to the polls. So if your conscience tells you that gay marriage, or whatever the issue is, is morally okay, then you should vote that way. What you should not do is make anyone feel guilty about voting a particular way, just because you disagree with their position. That's what I see going on here.
