No. I was raised Christian and went to a C of E school but I never took much notice of it.None of my business ... and I'm certainly not picking on you ... but were you a Christian at one time and dropped out?
This is exactly what I was talking about. The reality is that people are irresponsible with both their health and their finances.
These forums actually helped to change my mind. I used to believe in creationism (being a Christian), but after seeing all the mountains of evidence against the bible and for evolution, that started a chain-reaction that lead to me discarding the faith.hi. if i can ask: what changed your mind since then? thanks.
I'm pretty sure this was always the case. The complaint about PRATTs people ignoring facts has always been around, even when I first joined these forums over ten years ago.The quality of debate has declined to the point where it barely exists these days. Most of the Creationists are intransigent and immune to correction or they're the usual suspects posting inanity and PRATTs.
It's a real shame. This used to be a pretty stimulating section of CF.
I'm sorry to hear thatHi.
I used to visit these forums frequently years ago. I was a Christian back then, no religious beliefs now. I see that AV is still doing his [insert] challenge, (I think the first one was the "My Apple Challenge"), I see Loudmouth and Wiccan Child are still here.
To the old-school heads: aren't you bored yet? It's pretty likely that after a certain amount of time, you're probably not going to change your minds. What keeps you coming back to Crevo?
Anyway...it was nice to see some old names are still around.
What is a C of E school ?No. I was raised Christian and went to a C of E school but I never took much notice of it.
I was far more interested in dinosaurs and Buck Rogers.
Sorry. It means Church of England with the Queen as the er, Queen of it.What is a C of E school ?
I know what you mean about developing a tough skinI don't consider most of the debates around here to really be that bad. I have complained about them before, but they become fine when you:
1. Develop a tough skin.
2. Get accustomed to debating.
3. Point out any ad hominems.
LOL!!!Sorry. It means Church of England with the Queen as the er, Queen of it.
Although the General Synod is really the governing body.
I know what you mean about developing a tough skin
I used to cry a lot
Now I don't
I don't know yetNot to sound creepy, but I just hope that at the end of the day, you and I can come to an understanding of each other, maybe even talk theology once I get better at it.
Up to you. Eventually you will learn what I like and don't like and maybe we can even have a good debate on something.
Lol.LOL!!!
Thanks for that last bit
I would have thought the queen was the teacher!!!
Are you a Christian then?People may not like what I have to say, but my greatest concern as a Christian debater is that people spend more time talking their way out of how they commited a Logical Fallacy when it's pointed out, than they do formatting their post so they don't commit said fallacy in the first place.
For example, if person commits X logical fallacy, and I point it out and provide sufficient proof, they will search the internet and find an alternative-fact article that says they didn't commit said fallacy. And will keep on commiting said gray area over and over, when they could have just fixed it.
Sigh...
And full on means good or not good?Lol.
We had prayers in assembly, we sung hymns and had the local cannon (vicar) come in on Tuesdays after swimming to tell us Bible stories.
Thinking about it, it was pretty full on.
