Dont judge Christianity by the internet!
And however countries are in general, there are very sincere christians in all countries. Catholic and protestant alike
Don't get me wrong, I do know that: many Christians here seem great folks and I respect and enjoy reading their post immensely but there are some views I would never have thought to hearing a Christian saying.

When I was growing up in a C of E school the behaviour of the Christians was overbearingly nice (as in 'that person is selfless to a fault').

A bit 'Stepford' but very definitely well meaning, kind and generous.

Let's just say that's not always the case, here.

I know what you mean. I mainly find on these kind of forums it is all about the letter of doctrine, and not the heart of the gospel.
But then, these sites are mainly for the purpose of discussing theological doctrine.
And that often ends up in heated discussions. Um not sure how beneficial it is to spend too much time on them

I guess I thought that Christians as a bloc would just be kinder than I see here (not even close to everyone, of course).
Do you agree with Ghandi's, 'I like your Christ, not your Christians'?*

* Something like that.

So you dropped out, huh?

Or did science come along and make you tune in, turn on, and drop out?

Forget the Internet, all you need do is look at what the US government is trying to do with Obamacare, people say that it's not working so what do they do? they make it worse. And this in a so-called Christian country, DMML.
People somehow think that market forces will reduce the costs in healthcare, well it won't, how many Americans are going to need to die before America comes to it's senses and adopts a system that has been proven to work? it's going to happen eventually so why not do it sooner rather than later?
Americans who have plenty don't seem to give a second thought to those who are dying and suffering, they throw a few dollars in a pot every so often just to ease their minds then forget about them for the rest of the time and then bang on about freedom, freedom is great if you have plenty but it means nothing if you are barely surviving.
I often wonder why the have not's in America do not band together and go on the rampage after all what have they got to lose?

I don't consider most of the debates around here to really be that bad. I have complained about them before, but they become fine when you:

1. Develop a tough skin.

2. Get accustomed to debating.

3. Point out any ad hominems.

Some people offend easily and will drop out [of Christianity] at the drop of a hat.

I used to be amazed at those who were willing to forego all these benefits:

Hebrews 6:4a ... once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Hebrews 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

... to embrace atheism, until the Holy Ghost opened my eyes to:

Romans 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

... and the fact that they call themselves "wise men" by virtue of claiming an animalistic nature; i.e., they call themselves Homo sapiens, then end up becoming atheists.

None of my business ... and I'm certainly not picking on you ... but were you a Christian at one time and dropped out?

I agree with you about Obamacare.
Strange isn't it, many say they voted for trump out of christian principals. And yet, helping the less fortunate is a christian principal, it is showing love and compassion to others who most need it

Either way, personal attacks are against the rules, so when I point them out, I am of correct logic to do so.

Personal attacks and the whiff of an ad hominem, ruin debates.

Yours is a common attitude and viewpoint. The reality is that people are irresponsible with both their health and their finances. The first order of business is for people to take better care of themselves and their affairs. The poor and the sick are a never-ending sinkhole of need that threatens to bring us all down.

Sure people make bad choices, but we are all in that category because we are all sinners. Who among us is wise? Christ is our wisdom. (1 corinthians 1:24) He said its better to give than receive. Giving to the poor cannot be a sinkhole if its a blessing

Perhaps you are right but why does this only seem to be a problem in the US? all the other countries went through what the US is going though now and came up with an answer that suited 95% of the people in their country, are you saying it's beyond the US to sort this health problem out? why don't they look to other countries for an answer? look to countries who have been there and have got the T shirt.
Shall I tell you why they don't? because some very influential people are making far too much money to allow things to change, they will spread lies to a gullible population (there will be death panels and it's socialism so it will destroy your freedom) without a second thought for their welfare, all they are interested in is making money.
