Anyone know of any bridal places where they sell dresses or gowns in colors?

I'd like to get something romantic and beautiful, but I really don't like the traditional plain vanilla white.

I thought about a bride's maids gown, but they look so bride's maidy they really don't look pretty or romantic. I know they design them to look that way so the bride's maids don't look prettier than the bride.

Something in a classic print with a great cut would be perfect. Cocktail length would be good or full length would be good, too. I think a shorter dress wouldn't be dressy enough.

Any ideas?

I don't know where you are, but out here in L.A. there's the fashion district where they have tons of formal wear for affordable prices that are essentially the cut of wedding gowns but a vairety of colors. I'm sure you could find something at stores that sell formal wear.

In general, the stores that aren't wholesale sell them for quite a bit, though. Though I suppose it's no worse than a wedding dress.

I'm right there with you, by the way. There's no way I'm wearing white when I get married, but I'm definitely getting a pretty dress.

I'm in Ohio. I think I might give Virginia Marti College of Design in Cleveland a call and see what they might know about. Cleveland isn't that awful far from here.

I just think white is such an over used color for a bride. It's like it's forbidden to wear any other color. I want to stand out from the herd, I guess.

I didn't want a plain, boring dress either, so I explored a bit.

Alfred Angelo has some absolutely lovely colour-accented gowns, and Jasmine Bridal (particularly their B2 collection) have some gorgeous, colourful dresses!

I would just start calling around to local bridal shops. One shop I went to had regular white dresses to try on but told me I can get the dress in every color imaginable if I want. It might cost a little more but they can do it. Call around and ask if they sell bridal gowns in fun colors!

I've been to every bridal shop in the area and they all look at me like I have a space alien on my head when I ask if wedding dresses come in colors.

Here's some sites that I found...not alot of wedding gowns (colored) but they're are some. You should just make your own ball length skirt and wear a colored corset for the top, just a suggestion.

It doesn't come in my size!!

I contacted the company and they said that brand's clothing starts at size 8 and they don't do petite. I wear a 4 petite. They don't do alterations, either.

amazingly, David's Bridal has some beautiful dresses of color.

The dress I got was Scarlet Red and White. My veil is white and Scarlet Red, and I have Scarlet gloves (they say it's ""APPLE"" - but it's "scarlet")

One lady there was getting a sapphire blue dress, another was getting a scarlet red dress, and still another picked out black!

So who knows
