lol- yeah I thought about getting a job there- but I figured that every unemployed christian in Sydney would be looking for a job there, so I didn't really like my chances.. plus all their stores are really difficult to access from my part of Sydney- I applied for a job at the local christian bookstore and they said they would get back to me, but 2 weeks later haven't- I'm not too fussed though, now that I have a reasonable job at a call centre... All the best with your application though!

What about u Kristian? Did u get the job by going to the store and ask the manager if the need staff or apply online?

I've heard that it's not all happy happy joy joy working at a christian book store. 'Cos in the end, it's not a charity, it's a business. It's not a church to help the poor, it's out to make profit. Not that that is bad... you just need to bear that in mind.

oh yeah, thats true. Its not all happy though but at least u know when u work there, u help other christians to grow and can make a fellowship with the worker there so u can grow as well.

Speaking as someone else who has worked in a Christian environment it's not all happy joy joy at all. Sometimes it can be the pits - sometimes it's easier working in a secular environment.

Well, depending on which store is closest to you, best thing is probably just to drop in your resume. Sometimes there are positions advertised on the website but the best thing is usually to get in touch directly with the store.
I heard through my cousin (who worked at West Ryde and is now at Gosford) that a store was opening in Penrith back about 6 months before the store opened, sent in my resume, got an interview and it all went from there. Generally it's a great job - interacting with like minded people who both work with you and shop there. But it can sort of limit your circle of non-Christian friends and hence the chances you have to share the Gospel. Plus your enthusiasm can ebb and flow at times depending on what's happening in your life. But I've found it overall to be a huge personal blessing to me.

Have u ever seen someone came to ur store and drop their resume there? Cause some store like coles, they will only accept online resume and everything is online which is a bother. LoL.

i have seen advertising in an actual store for positions vacant (been filled but). what about Word bookstore, dunno what state you are in but here in Vic we have both word and Koorong, did have Keswick as well dunno if they still exist or not. its all about if you want it you gotta put yourself out there make them know you exist. little tip it also helps if you know people that work there, they usually know when a position is coming up sometimes even before the manager does..
