• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I just found out sorta by accedent that I might have DID and I really don't know how to cope with that. If there is anyone here with it I'm sure it would really help me to just find out how you delt with it when you first found out...

Here is a link to know more about what DID is all about:

http://psychologytoday.com/conditions/did.html

Pockleberry: DID can be treated and I would encourage you find a qualified mental health therapist. There is some very good results that people are getting with integrative therapy. This is the process of helping you (the main personality) know what the other personalities do and have control over them.

I don't have this disorder myself but I have had contact with many who have had it. I know that loosing track of time and not knowing what you have been doing in that time must clearly be very upsetting. I also know that there is medication that can help too.

I think the most important thing is to find a good therapist and psychiatrist.

But it is also important to utilize stress management techniques. For me, praying and bible reading and going to church are important. Ironically when I am under the most stress I tend to skip doing the very things that help. Moderate excerise on a regular basis is also a great way to reduce stress.

You might be able to so some deep breathing relaxation exercises but ask a therapist first. Some people find this sort of thing triggers there DID symptoms.

It is not what Hollywood has made it out to be but unfortunately so many people still think that way. You are not alone by any means but I am guessing that a lot of people feel labeled by those stigmas and are leary of exposing themselves by disclosing the diagnosis. I sure hope you are getting the help and support you need. You are brave and wise to post here. Thank you for sharing,

 little sis, bless your heart. MPD or DID is just a way of coping, adapting, surviving. xenia said it all; and it is recapped with the comment not-at-all-like hollywood movies. if you do have it, you need a counselor. ~ love dee

I have DID. The hardest thing is to accept that there are parts in you, that are part of YOU. They are not others you only think of them in the 3th way. That is fine but don't react like it's you against them because it isn't. It is you, only with other identifications-feelings.
