My wife and I went through our first IVF cycle late in 2003 and are now the proud parents of seven month old Lucas. We're contemplating going through a second cycle later this year, but have some fears and bad memories from the first time around. I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried/is taking this approach to TTC.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not myself yet. Waiting on test results and then to work out what's next. If you don't mind me asking, how long did you wait before you decided to give IVF a go the first time? Glad to hear it worked for you. Congratulations on your son Lucas (love the name!!).

We waited 5 1/2 years before going that route. We're very fortunate that we have our choice of two specialists in our area that specialize in this field. The first doctor's personality completely clashed with our, but our current doctor is fantastic. No question is stupid and his office accepted all of the questions and phone calls (usually daily) along the way.
If you're thinking about the process, let me warn you that it is very involved and demanding. My wife had a serious drug protocol (including two injections a day that I had to administer) and certain drugs had to be given at within a five minute window on a certain day or the whole process has to be stopped.
