If any of you guys are shooting RIP rounds look at your feed ramp and see if it is wearing bad.
I have a springfield xds 9 that I shot a handful of RIP rounds through and I will not use them anymore because it scarred up my feed ramp badly for some reason.

Never heard of them, but I will certainly avoid them if they are a choice. Thanks for the heads-up!

Those deep grooves and sharp points are probably what's doing the damage. Looks like a bad design.
Yes it seems they are. They are made to penetrate and then explode inside and not go all the way through and perhaps injure someone behind the perp. They do some damage though lol

My understanding is that smooth hollowpoints do a pretty good job of that. Mushrooming would be much more effective than "exploding".

Have you tried a Taurus judge? I am wanting one as the 45 LC would be for bear and 410 disk for other trouble. I have shot them and love them, However the triggers are terrible from the factory.

I have the Public Defender which I inherited from my dad. The one concern I would have with the Judge is the distance from the bullet to the rifling and how accurate they are at any distance I would feel safe with a charging bear headed toward me. I mean, I want my gun as accurate as at least 2 moa for that reason. And I haven't seen those results so far with the .45 LC. I see more like a 4-5 moa from mine. Maybe it is just this one with the short barrel but I also know that traveling that far before the bullet engages the lands can adversely affect the accuracy.

The one I shot was a 6 in barrel and I received 2 in groups at 27 feet and the 410 disk was a 8 in circle at 7ds. I was impressed but a 6 in barrel is harder to conceal for sure :]

Test: Can you run 25 yards as fast as you can, drop and roll three full times, come up, draw, and fire as fast as you can at a target moving at you at about 20 miles per hour and hit a 2 inch circle when it is 27 feet away. (I am pretty sure the 25 yards and rolling three times would be enough to kill me so I wouldn't care if the bear got me in the end.)

I didn't say that. Lol how about 2in groups off the bench. Jumping and rolling requires advil and my 12 gauge
