• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was just wondering if there were any people here who developed an ED over the age of 30? I am 38 and my world has recently come crashing down and I have begun vomiting. I know I shouldn't and I realise how unhealthy it is but I keep doing it. I have always had a problem with keeping weight off and I even had my stomach stapled back in 1999. I have gained much of my weight back and to this day I still hate my body as much as I did when I was a young teen.
After I vomit I feel cleaner. Does this make sense?

I sooo sorry, Luvie, that this is happening to you.. these eating disorders are the blooming pits. I know you can relearn to eat in a normal way and maintain weight but you would need some support while you learn new habits. And even then there would be a bit of backsliding until you got more in control and learn to manage anxiety without eating over it.. then there is the body image thing.

It is a matter of owning your body and rejoicing in it.. caring for it and nuturing it.. and dressing it in nice clothing. Sometimes we only need a bit of knowledge how to put ourselves together nicely.. sooo many issues to consider and all the time there is your individuality.. and your problems and your dreams and happiness YOUR LIFE!

You need a counseller, Luvie, and don't be too trusting with these counsellers because some of them aren't worth a tuppeny damn.. you know what I mean..

If you think it will help you can PM me and we could put our heads to together, and try to make some LITTLE improvements to start with.. if you go on like this you will ruin your health and be miserable.

Or try to find that GOOD counseller who deals in eating disorders.. Best from Jenny

This old sheepdog has seen a few bouts of that stuff. Their was a time when panic Disorders, Eating disorders, and depression filled my day. It's a wonder I had time to do anything!

I came back from the service with a wicked case of PTSD too. add a bit of OCD and you got a complete guy! None of that rules my day anymore but some of it still peeps up once in a while. did I lock the door? what kind of chairs does that place have?
loud noises like thunder at night in my sleep and I am on the floor reliving bad times. It is such a waste of my life. If it helps any I saw your profile picture and this old dog thinks you are beautiful. I imagine your little girl must be simply stunning!

Stick around. CF is the place for you to find unconditional love and support. and I love everybody. Cant help it y'all are so neat!
