• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey everyone. My psychiatrist recently put me on Abilify (5 mg) in addition to my Lexapro (20 mg) which I was already on. I am on the minimum doseage of Abilify and the maximum doseage of Lexapro. I also started taking 10 mg of Lexapro in the morning and 10 mg at night or evening in order to help spread it out cause it tends to lose it's effects. Unfortunately, since this change happened, I have been finding myself very fatigued (even though the doc said the Abilify would give me energy) and I am getting depressed more easily. I'm not sure what to do though I am definitely going to tell him about it at my next appointment in a month. Has anyone else had a similar experience with Abilify?

I've been on this drug for a while now (30 mg). At first this medication was a bit rough on me with lots of side-effects including fatigue as well as sleeplessness but a lot of that has past. Persist a bit longer you may find more benefit from it as yet.

There is a website (abilify.com) you might check out. Good Luck. Working out the right meds can be a long pain-staking process. There is so MUCH that goes into balance. (diet, toxins, allergies, BP + MOOD). BE SURE TO NOTE what is going on at the time you experience these side effects and tell the DR ALL of it.

(had you gotten sufficient sleep? Was there a Weather change hot/cold? Is there something situational JOB/Spouse/KIDS/In-laws going on as well).

IF it is just the meds--ask Dr. to try something esle. Nothing works for everybody.

I'm on both medications--Abilify at 10mg (I think) and Lexapro at 20mg. I'm often tired, but I think it's more the depression than medication. Lexapro is a stimulant and shouldn't make you tired. I don't know about the Abilify.
I'd ask the doctor about it if I were you...

I also take Abilify 10mg along with Desyrel 200mg and Zoloft 100mg. I have found that the depression itself makes me feel fatigued, but after being on the Abilify for several months I am beginning to have a little more energy. Talk to your Dr., but hang on the right meds. will help eventually.

My doctor said the abilify would give me energy but it seems to do just the opposite or it was doing that. I am getting to where I'm not so tired now but it was making me very tired. My only problem is insomnia. I keep waking up around 4 AM in the morning. :sigh:

Yep that took a while to settle with me - a few months even - I still wake up at 4-5 AM but go back to sleep now.
