CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

He is one of the greats. While I don't dig his style, I cannot say enough about how important he is to current Christian music.

Yes! I have always liked Michael W Smith's songs. I attended one of his concerts once, and it was very moving and powerful. I would love to attend one again.

I liked and listened to Michael W. Smith in my teen years. I actually just found and purchased a CD of a Michael W. Smith tape I had years ago-It's titled Project. I bought it yesterday and listened to it in the car. It was great! I remember all the songs and could sing along.

I have to agree with Gird that MWS is one of the more important figures in the history of Christian music. He came along (early 80s) when CCM needed a shot in the arm, and he was able to provide the necessary medicine. I got to see him open for Amy Grant on the Age to Age tour (and of course he played keys in the excellent band that backed her at that time), and have seen him at least half a dozen times since - either with Amy or on his own. While I no longer run out and buy every album he puts out, I think his worship albums are top notch (if a bit over done) and he's "aged gracefully" - for lack of a better term. He's not going to apeal to younger listeners anymore, but the quality of the work he's still doing is reasonably high.
