Sam Levine is a Christian saxophonist who is very good. He has several albums and I highly recommend all of them.

If you want nice, mellow, piano-based jazz, go with Bill Evans. (Particularly Sunday at the Village Vanguard.)
If you want the Shakespeare or jazz, go for Duke Ellington (esp. Okeh Ellington [great great oldest stuff], Money Jungle [great trio record with good piano by Duke], Fargo Concert [maybe the greatest live swing album ever]).
If you want great bop, get Charlie Parker, Horace Silver (Song for My Father or Blowin' the Blues Away), or thelonious Monk (try Monk's Music or Genius of Modern Music vol. 2).
For great avant-jazz, you must have Charles Mingus' The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady. Probably one of the five great jazz albums from then 'til now.
For vocals, dig into Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, and Mel Torme.
Go nuts at www.allmusic.com. Pretty solid database of reviews with tons and tons and tons of music samples.

...by the way: check your local library for CDs by these folks, then you can check them out without bothering with potentially illegal downloads, etc.
