  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anyone here related to Robert the Bruce or Edward I?

No, I am not related but there might be a Queen on my mom's side of the family.

Since all the royalty I am is from my mother's side of the family, I guess that makes me illegitimate to rule anything.

Found out recently that both men are ancestors (grandfathers).

I am equal with you being that my ancestors were royal too and they ruled Scotland in the 1500s. One monarch I know about is Queen Mary of Scots herself -- she was a famous monarch. She is the only famous member of my family tree I have uncovered so far. But she was just one of many monarchs. One thing I cannot figure out is since my ancestors ruled Scotland why as their descendants my family doesn't rule Scotland too? We have been shoved out of power and away from the throne and I don't know why. I want what belongs to my family!

Long live the King (Edward 1 I mean)!

One question I have for you is that, being that your ancestors are royalty and are Kings why you don't rule over anything then. I thought that the throne was hereditary, that it passed from ancestors to their descendants based upon blood. You are their descendant after all. I should think that royal lineage has to be entitled to something. Like lands and castles, people and countries.

Well, being that you are royalty, I am not going to kiss your hand, or pledge my allegiance to you in any way. And I don't like snobs. So just because you are nobility and not common blood doesn't mean you should act like a rich snobby brat.
