  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ridesawhitehorse, I love Lippizzan and Andalusion horses. They are amazing!! I don't do dressage and stuff, but I really admire those that do. I saw the Lippizzans when they were her a couple months ago. They are so cool to watch. That's awesome that you have them. I am poor though, so I can't afford one!

horse luver, ImHis -

I feel very fortunate to have the horses I have. My Lipizzan is a great fella, and I am blessed that he is in my life -- and thankful. In reality, I got him on a really great deal. He is a high quality horse. He is in training.
I figure that we are all poor in Gods eyes - and keeping a good perspective of the gifts that the horses are requires that I keep my hands open before God, let him hold the reins.
I have dedicated all my riding to Jesus. I don't know if you know about Musical Freestyle in Dressage. BUt it is a sort of dance-with-your-horse to music event in dressage. I ride, train, and practice with this event in mind for me and my Lipizzan. It is my goal to ride musical freestyle someday to sacred classical music like Handel's Messiah, ,,, you know, HALLALUIA!! HALLALUAI!!! ,,, and Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Mans Desiring".. - stuff like that. I hope to make people touch God through my riding if it is possible.

Tell us about your horses everyone!!

I have heard of the Freestyle Music thing. I have seen it on tv a few times. It is really cool. I don't do dressage, but I really admire those that do. Okay, here is a little about my "boys". Juan is going to be 16 next month, and I have had him since 99. He used to be a racehorse, but he wasn't too good. lol He only won like 3 races. I think he was handled kind of rough. When I first got him, he was really nervous. He didn't like to have his ears/face touched, didn't like to be saddled, he got freaked out at almost everything, was horrible at picking up his feet, and it was impossible to touch his mouth. He is so much better now. He will let me do just about anything to him. He lets me look in his mouth whenever I want, and is so good with his feet now. He doesn't mind being saddled, and he hardly ever spooks. He loves having his head scratched now too. :D I just love him to death. He is still a little aloof around people he doesn't know though. My other one is a black and white paint, Domino. He's going to be 3 in July. He is a great little guy. So sweet and loving. And very quick to learn. He has never given me any problem with anything. Didn't even blink an eye the first time I put the saddle on him or got on him. I think I am going to send him to a trainer though. I can't get out to see him every day, and it is not fair to him to give him a less than 100% effort in training. I got him on a really good deal. I got him for less than a thousand, and the lady paid more than three times that. I am so grateful for that. He is a wonderful horse. I think God has blessed me so much by giving me these guys. I had to put my other horse, Teddy Bear, down in November. I still miss him a lot. I got him in 96 for Christmas. He was my first horse. Sorry for writing so much! I could go on forever about them though! :D

I'm 100% horse crazy, always have been and always will be. I'm 16 and have been riding for 9 years. I don't own a horse at the moment but I have owned several in the past. I've trained several horses myself too.

I ride English and my favourite thing is show-jumping. I course 4'3, maybe a little bigger and have jumped single fences of 4'7 plus. My favourite breeds are the Irish Sports Horse, Thoroughbred and Warmblood. :D

Cool!!! I've jumped some, but we don't do all that much since it's western riding. You all sound a lot more experienced than I am, but I'm learning! It's getting hot here, so we have to hose them down a good bit.

Musical freestyle....yeah I've heard of it. It sounds neat what you're doing 'Ridesawhitehorse'!

LOL I'mHis! Hey, winning 3 races is better than none, eh? Sounds like you have some cool horses. There's a horse at the barn that can't stand pressure on his face either. But I think he's getting a little better about it.

lol Yeah, you could say that! But hey, I look at it this way: if he would have been really good , I wouldn't have him now! And I wouldn't trade him for anything.

Ridesawhitehorse, thanks for saying sorry abou Teddy! I do still miss him a lot, but my other guys help a lot. The day I had to have him put down, he was in the pasture, he had fallen down. There were other horses in the pasture, and they stayed away the whole time, until the minute the vet actually put him down. Then they all came down there, smelled him, and walked away. It was like they knew the exact second he went, because they all ran down. And it was so cute, because Domino was in that pasture too, and he came down and stood by me for a long time afterwards. He didn't move a muscle. He is not normally like that, he usually moves quite a but while you are standing by him out there. It was like he knew I was upset and wanted to be there for me. Some people think I am crazy for thinking that, but I believe it!

Just found this thread!!

I love horses too, I am so lucky to have one of my own, he's a 16.1hh liver chestnut gelding - ISH, he was a showjumper when I got him but now we do dressage which I love and it suits us both really well!

We did our first ever freestyles this year (only novice level) and it was so much fun!

I'm new here :) Never can resist a post about horses though. I own 3, a QH pony mare, an Appy mare, and a solid Paint. I'm a trail rider for the most part, and am currently working with a trainer attempting to train the Paint. She's about as spookish as they come, and it's two steps forward and three back right now.

Cool everybody! Welcome born2run! I decently new here too. I really like this site. Anyway, horses R awesome:clap:! I'd love to be a trainer someday....one of my dreams. hehe. One of my friends does dressage and stuff.....she's a good rider. But, for some reason I enjoy western better!! :) I have nothing against English, however. ;) I didn't get to watch the Kentucky Derby (I'm not a big fan of racing....but I do like to watch the KD), but I heard the story of the horse that won.....pretty cool.

Horseluver...I have a genuine respect for both english and western. I ride western currently, but hope to get my trainer to teach me dressage. I feel more secure in western, especially on my greenies. Racing is what got me interested in horses. I watch all the races I can, particularly the Triple Crown.

I don't get much horse racing on TV here. Just about all I can see is the major races. I love watching the Triple Crown. I would love to see someone win the whole thing. There hasn't been a winner since I was born. Soemtimes on ESPN Classic, they play bios of some of the greats. Secretariat, Slew, Affirmed, etc. My all time favorite is Man O' War. My horse Juan is related to him and War Admiral. :D
