I don't have any clue who McGee is... I'm sure he's probably a great guy and probably even has a firm Biblical foundation... but the statement of basing ones own ministry on the teaching of a man was just a little odd. I don't think it's bad to draw from the wisdom of others and learn from their experiances/

I think that's what he meant, though: "drawing from the wisdom of others and learning from their experiances".

Every preacher, to some degree, learns to preach from some other preacher.

I believe he was just referring to preaching style.

Cool, but every minister I've heard does that too. Not a unique preaching style.

I've heard about 5 pastors in person from different denominations, etc. Only the one at Calvary Chapel taught that way. The other times, it was primarily topical, with only a few relavent verses to support the topic.
