I'm currently looking at universities and deciding where i want to go and was wondering if anyone on here is at uni and if they could tell me where they go and what it's like!

I would like to study Law and modern languages, it's cool if your not doing a course like that, i just want to know what you think about the place where your learning! And about how your getting on with accomodation and budgeting etc.

Cheers

Ooh! Ooh! I can help! I'm studying modern languages (German and Dutch) and philosophy at Sheffield University, and I went through the UCAS system last year and survived (just).
What do you want to know about? Generally I'm really enjoying the course. It has more literature than I expected but that's cool, and it's not so hard that it's a problem. The accomodation is quite poor, to be honest, but I have a biased opinion because I hate living with students. I'm in a big hall of residence with 800 other people. Not nice, but lots of other people enjoy it.
Budgeting is not easy, and I hate having to rely on my parents for money, but it's not impossible to manage if you're careful, in my experience.
Where are you thinking of applying? If you've got any more questions, I'll do my best to answer them. :)

If you like countryside, Lancaster is the place to be! Strange farming smells, cows, grass and general countrysideness everywhere!:D

I liked it, but then again, I'm from scouseland, and people around here have never even seen trees before so it was a welcome change.

Seriously, most people will probably praise their university, it depends what you're looking for. House prices and hall prices were very reasonable, and much cheaper in the north than south apparently! I've never lived in the south so am sheltered from that kind of thing ;)

You can survive on a student loan and overdraft no problem if you're sensible. If you like to enjoy yourself a lot, and university provides plenty of temptations, you might want to work a little, even if it's only one day a week, it'll go a long way!

I made a budgeting table before leaving for uni full of good intentions...don't think I ever lived it out! ;)

Hope you get some responses you find helpful! It was 3.5 years ago when I started so some of my information might be a little outdated.

hi Im not at uni but my daughter is at Leeds. It has a good reputation and Im told its a really brilliant place to be. if you look at their website youll see they have a really good Chaplaincy and you can even do modules towards your degree in that department too. Especially in the frist year they like you to do modules in departments other than your main subject and then you can specailise later on.( she did modules in law and philosophy as well as her main subject this year) Accom in first year seems good and she is moving into a house - of which there are loads -for her second year. Hope you enjoy looking to find the right course.

Avoid Lancaster if you can. Its a pretty dull city, and I'm about to die of bordem after living here for three years now.

Leeds is a great place to study tho, with three unis. Students area (Headingly) is really nice, and a top place to be. City centres cool too, and theres lots of great churches in Leeds.

Ive found that most people tend to go to uni quite near where they live tho. Like Lancasters full of North Eatern people, Norwich full of Essex people. so you might want to look at unis quite near where you live

Just finished reading a BA in War Studies at King's College London.
Well, ok, I've got two papers left in May.
London is a completely different experience to, say, a campus university, so if you're looking at any of the Unis in the capital, I'll be happy to answer any of your questions.
